Mr. Shailendra Singh is the Director at Amrapali Institute of Hotel Management. is a dedicated hospitality professional with a doctorate degree. He began his career in the hotel industry as a professional chef where he mastered skills in operations and management. In his interview he starts by explaining what a leader aspires for and why is it important to have a progressive mindset. He shares his belief in surrounding oneself with unique yet likeminded people, who helps to grow an individual. Talking about the curriculum, he says that the institution is looking for international tie-ups for a global exposure and planning to launch programmes based on input of our market and research in future. Additionally, he puts emphasis on extracurricular activities which helps to grow holistically. The competition today has touched the sky and students have to thrive in the given circumstances. I can remember early in my career, when I admired to be an Executive Chef in a good Hotel, I had that in the back of my head that one day I would be reaching that position. For me, learning new things from surroundings was a natural form of progression. For some reasons I opted to be a teacher in a Hospitality Institution and for a number of years I focused on being a classroom teacher, by staying mostly to myself and focusing primarily on my students. In my twenty plus years of teaching I have had numerous leadership roles. Some I have sought out and applied for, whereas others were offered and suggested to me.
Pursuit of excellence is the foremost aspiration of any leader as the same goes right for me also for me leadership is getting your people motivated enough to follow your directions and move ahead to achieve the organization's goal. I always have something to offer that may be a solution to a situation. By doing so I am able to drive and stimulate the desire to lead.

I understand that as a leader I am not running a one-man show and I cannot do it all alone. I believe in surrounding myself with great teachers and colleagues and, not only that, I believe in supporting my fellow teachers and staff by encouraging them to continually learn, develop and, perhaps most important, become leaders in themselves. This makes them more sincere, productive, better engaged and more effective along with building an environment that imbibes trust and mutual understanding.
I also believe in offering professional development opportunities and support services to teachers, we have created an environment where teachers are able to experiment, innovate and lead, thus creating a healthy environment for educators that will have positive repercussions for students.
We are planning to launch programmes based on input of our market and research in future
As a group, Amrapali has introduced B.Pharm and D.Pharm courses along with 1 year specialized diploma in Retail Management. In future at AGI we might be launching new programmes based on input of our market research team and Government policies.

We have seen that participation in extracurricular activities has shown a wide range of positive impacts on student performance and achievement. Through participation in extracurricular activities, students learn the valuable qualities associated with these activities, they become more confident and learn teamwork, dedication, social skills, time management, decision making and the ability to build positive relationships with other students, teachers, coordinators, parents, and community members. These qualities are applied to all of the student’s endeavours including student achievement. The students can enroll themselves in various clubs of their interest domain and nurture their talent in a creative way.
