GMAT 2018 (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a worldwide level entrance examination conducted every year for admitting aspirants into MBA, Masters in Finance, Masters in Accountancy and other such courses offered by GMAC associated institutes. The exam is conducted 6 days a week throughout the year.
Registration for GMAT 2018 can be done 6 months prior to the test date preferred by applicants. They can download information brochure and fill up the online application form on the official website- www.mba.com . The registration can be done online or through phone call, postal mail or fax. Applicants will be required to enter general details about themselves and their academic qualifications.
GMAT 2018 is a computer based test i.e. the mode of the test is online. The medium of language will be English only and duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes with a maximum score of 800 points. The paper will consist of 4 sections namely- Analytical Writing Section, Quantitative Section, Verbal Skills and Integrated Reasoning Section.
Applicants will have an option of accepting their score or cancel it as per their choice.
GMAT 2018 will be conducted in about 112 countries all over the world and the scores will be accepted by more than 2,100 institutions and universities. More than 35,000 students appear for GMAT in India alone for admission to about 6000 business schools based on this test’s score.

There are no specific exam dates for taking GMAT 2018 exam. Students can appear for the test throughout the year. They can choose their examination date, center and time as per their convenience.
The applicants must be careful while choosing the exam date. They must take into account all processes of the exam like time required for registration, payment of fees and availability of score card so that they can apply for various programs within the stipulated admission time. The exam can be scheduled anywhere from 6 months to 24 hours prior to the exam.
The time gap between 2 attempts of the test is 16 days. Maximum attempts for the exam is 5 times within a period of 12 months. It should also be noted that candidates cannot take more than 8 re-tests in their lifetime
The organizing body GMAC has not specified any specific eligibility norms for GMAT 2018. The eligibility criteria of different institutions will be applicable for admission. Each participating institute will have a different criterion. Students must however ensure that they meet certain minimum eligibility requirements before applying for the exam. The various criteria are as stated below:
Applicants belonging to all countries of the world can apply for the test. There is no restriction regarding the nationality of the applicant.
The ideal age for applying for the exam is 18 years and above. There is no upper age limit. It should also be noted that students between the ages of 13 to 17 years are also eligible for the test but they will require the permission/ consent of their parent or guardian.
Maximum number of attempts for GMAT 2018 in 12 month time period is 5. The lifetime limit of attempts for the exam for an applicant is 8.
The minimum academic qualification for admission is a graduate degree from a recognized institute. All participating institutes will have different academic qualifications.

To register via postal mail or fax, candidates will be required to register online on GMAT website and then mail or fax the payment information to pay through cheque or money order. After successful registration, applicants will be notified of the same via email.
Registration of candidates for GMAT 2018 will be considered complete only after they pay the requisite fees. The registration fees for the current academic year along with the applicable taxes will be given on the website under ‘Pay for the Test’. The fees for the entrance are US $ 250 excluding taxes. The various modes of payment are given below:
Requisite fee can be paid via online mode using Visa/ MasterCard/ American Express or JCB. If the card is declined for whatsoever reason, the appointment will be cancelled automatically and applicants will have to reschedule another test appointment.
GMAT 2018 Application Fee will be payable to Pearson VUE-GMAT, in US dollars and drawn on a US bank. The cheque or money orders should be for full amount, including taxes. The current date should be listed, post-dated cheque or money order will not be accepted. Cheque should be duly signed and should have bank name and its location preprinted on its face. It should be received at least 10 days before the appointment date to allow time for processing.
Applicants can also remit fee via GMAT exam voucher but the vouchers cannot be used for rescheduling test appointment.
It should be noted that rescheduling and other processes may require additional fees.

Applicants have the provision of rescheduling or canceling GMAT exam. This can be done by logging into their respective accounts or by a phone call to GMAT Customer service of the particular region. Cancellations, refunds and rescheduling fees will apply depending on when the request of change is done.
Students can reschedule the exam by logging into their accounts. They must select the option of ‘Reschedule your GMAT Exam’ and select the suitable date. Rescheduling fee of US $ 50 will have to be paid if candidate reschedules 7 calendar days before the test. The entire amount of registration fee will have to be paid if candidate reschedules 7 days or fewer prior to the exam date.
Aspirants can cancel their GMAT 2018 exam by logging into their accounts and selecting the option of ‘Cancel your GMAT Exam’.
They will receive a partial refund fee of US $ 80 if they cancel 7 days before the exam. No refund will be given for cancellation after the stipulated time.
GMAT 2018 will be conducted in 35 centers across India. The exam will be conducted in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Chennai to name a few. It will be held in a total of 31 cities across the nation.
GMAT 2018 is a computer based test conducted via online mode only. It will be held in English language only. Duration of exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes. The international level entrance test will consist of 4 sections- Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal Section.
The exam is adaptive i.e. it sets own difficulty level. The difficulty level of the exam in terms of marks ranges from 200-800. The difficulty level increases with the number of right answers and with every wrong answer it declines.

GMAT 2018 follows the system of Scaled Scores i.e. it has an algorithm way to check the answers. There is no uneven distribution of marks and the exam will have few questions for 1 mark and few for 2 marks.
There are two optional breaks of 8 minutes between any two sections. Applicants are generally suggested to take breaks to lighten up their mind and then continue the examination.

The detailed syllabus for GMAT 2018 is given on their official website. The general standard of the test is given below:
Analytical Writing Assessment:This is the essay section wherein the aspirants must write a single essay of 200-300 words on the topic provided by GMAC.
Integrated reasoning:The reasoning questions will be of elementary level and aspirants will be asked to evaluate information presented in multiple formats from multiple sources by solving questions by interpreting graphs, analyzing tables and general reasoning.
Quantitative aptitude:This section will assess aspirant’s ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills. The questions in this section of the GMAT exam will be from Mathematics taught in secondary school classes. Questions related to the topics of Geometry, Elementary Algebra, Arithmetic, Permutation and combinations, Exponents and roots, Linear equations, Ratio Proportions and Properties of Integers will be asked.
Verbal Reasoning:This is a relatively challenging section. Questions about Critical reasoning, Reading unseen passages, Subject verb agreement, Misplace modifiers Rhetorical construction of the sentences, Sentence correction related to finding error or omission, Countable Vs Uncountable, Parallelism will be asked in this section.
Aspirants will be shown their unofficial GMAT 2018 Score upon completion of the exam. This unofficial score will contain only total marks secured in the Verbal, Integrated Reasoning and Quantitative Assessment sections. Applicants will have to decide whether to accept this score or cancel it within 2 minutes. If they accept it, they will receive a hard copy of the unofficial scorecard at the test centre. They can also cancel their accepted score within 72 hours of the test by selecting the respective option from their registered online accounts. They will however have to pay a fee of US $ 25 for canceling the score after the test.

The official score report of the accepted score will be released within 3 weeks of the test. Candidates will be notified of the same by email. This report will contain total marks secured in each section and percentile ranking of the aspirant. The Official Score Reports will be sent to up to five programs that are selected by the aspirant on the test day for free. Score cards can also be sent to additional programs after the required fee is paid.
