The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competition Examination (JCECEB) has officially made an announcement that the Aadhar Card/number will be mandatory for making an application for the exam from this year.

This announcement comes within a series of such announcements where Aadhar Card has been made mandatory for making an application for the exam. Central Board of Secondary education (CBSE) also made it mandatory for students to have an Aadhar card in order to appear for class 10th and 12th board exams. JCECE would also require applicants to possess an Aadhar card for making the application.

    What is Aadhar Card/Number?

Aadhar Card/Number isa 12-digit unique identification number allotted by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIAD). The document contains all the required biometric, demographic, and residential information of the holder. Anybody can enroll himself/herself for Aadhar without any charge. All you need to do is to visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or Adhar enrollment office to get yourself registered.

    Why Aadhar is made mandatory?

Candidates who are seeking admission to various UG and PG courses in renowned government and private institutions in the state of Jharkhand will now have to possess the adhar card mandatorily in order to make application for the same.

The main reason cited by the conducting authorities to make adhar card necessary is to put a limit on forged enrollments and impersonation to lessen mismanagement. Following are the other reasons which possibly explain the necessity of the action.

    • Making Aadhar card mandatory would make it easy for the “officials” to track and eliminate any impersonation or error with the help of details mentioned in aadhar.
    • Adhar card carries all the necessary details of the applicant that is from name and address to biometric credentials and iris scan.
    • Eliminates the need of multiple documents for age and address verification.

These steps are enforced more seriously especially after the passage of Aadhar bill 2016 by the parliament last year. The government both at center and states are trying to involve the usage of aadhar in all the spheres where there are chances of forgery, impersonation, or error. Making the card mandatory for making application for various exams is a positive step in direction of digitalization of the entire examination process and enhancing the quality and standard of examination machinery.

What if you don’t have Aadhar card?

In case you don’t possess an aadhar number then you should make an application for the same at the earliest.  After enrolling for aadhar at your nearest aadhar enrolment centre or CSC you will get a slip containing 28 digit aadhar enrollment ID. Candidates can use this ID at the time of making application in case the aadhar number is not generated by that time. The notification making the aadhar card mandatory was released by the conducting authority on its official website. The notification published on January 24, 2017 does not mention any other document as replacement in case the candidates don’t have an aadhar number. Thus, the authority has clearly mentioned that those with aadhar number/enrolment ID would only be allowed to appear in the exam.

Candidates can enroll for the aadhar with the help of any of the following documents.

    • Bank statement/Passbook
    • Ration card
    • Passport
    • Voter ID
    • ID issued by recognized school/college
    • Driving License
    • Water bill (not more than 3 months old)
    • Disability certificate/card issued by competent authority

All the above-mentioned documents are accepted as supporting document for making an application for aadhar. Candidates can use their photo admit cards like the one issued for class 10th and 12th board exam by competent authority as a support document for aadhar enrolment.
