NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is still keeping the CMAT candidates in a loop. It’s constant change in CMAT Exam Date is baffling the students much. Till October 6, 2016, the CMAT Exam was supposed to be held for two days, i.e. on January 29 and 29, 2017. But, in a recent notification by the AICTE, the CMAT 2017 Exam date has been revised. Now, the second yearly CMAT is proposed to be conducted on January 28, 2017, in single session only.
Earlier, it was announced that the CMAT exam will have a 2 days’ test window, of January 28 & 29, 2017. Now, at 5PM on October 6, 2016, the AICTE has claimed January 29, 2017 as the Reserve day. It means that only in dire emergency, second day will be used as test day, otherwise the AICTE CMAT will be over in a single session.

The change in AICTE CMAT 2017 Exam Dates has led the candidates in utter confusion. The notification regarding the change in dates was displayed on AICTE CMAT’s Official Website. It showed the exam date as January 28, 2017 and kept January 29, 2017 as the ‘Reserve day’. The very first FAQ responded by AICTE says, ‘The CMAT-2017 will be conducted on January 28, 2017. January 29, 2017 is the reserved day’. This has created confusion and panic amongst the aspirants.
The CMAT Exam that was held last year, had observed a revamped structure and format. Now the CMAT 2017 has created confusion upon its exam dates. We are sure the candidates will be having a number of questions on this issue. More so, because the AICTE hasn’t given any clarification on the reserved day this as yet.
It looks like the AICTE hasn’t given due attention and thought over the issue of CMAT 2017 Exam Dates. Till October 5, 2016, the AICTE kept on replying that the exam would be held on two days, in its FAQ’s section.
Surprisingly, the authority on October 6, 2016, modified its response as ‘CMAT in India will be held on 28th & 29th January, 2017. Yes, you can select up-to 3 cities in India giving order of preference towards your test city. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.’
If we read the FAQs column right now, it reads, “CMAT in India will be held on 28th January 2017. 29th January 2017 is a reserved day.” Now what new may be added or deleted tomorrow, you never know”.

For all the appearing candidates, there will be a single slot for the CMAT 2017, instead of two slots. The CMAT 2017 is scheduled for January 28, 2017 as we all know now. The AICTE CMAT 2017 will be conducted for 3 hours, from 9.30 AM till 12.30 PM.
Till 2PM on October 6, the AICTE said, ‘There will be no different time slots. Test will begin at 9:30 AM on 28th & 29th Jan 2017. Candidates are required to arrive at the CMAT Exam Centers on or before 8:00 AM for Security checks, Identity verification, and check-in.’
At 5PM on October 6, 2016, the AICTE changed its statement to, “There will be no different time slots. Test will begin at 9:30 AM on 28th Jan 2017. 29th Jan 2017 is a reserved day.”

It’s not just the CMAT 2017 Exam Dates that have been revised, but the CMAT Test Format 2017 too. The AICTE has changed the format of CMAT Exam from the academic year 2016-17. Now, the CMAT exam will be conducted only once a year, instead of twice a year.
The CMAT Exam is an online exam, conducted for admission to AICTE approved MBA/ PGDM courses across the country. This exam is conducted to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.

Aspirants surrounded with confusion
With the AICTE keeping the candidates under a wrap, the confusion still surrounds the air. The authority is failing to deliver clear responses, the candidates are getting confused each day. Candidates are still not aware of how AICTE would treat this reserve day. The reserve day thing might come to being if too much rush is there, or in case of technical glitches on January 28, 2017. The final clarification from AICTE is still awaited.
The CMAT registration & Application process begins on October 10, 2016 and will close on December 10, 2016. You may expect more surprises and changes in the notification with regard to the CMAT 2017, before the registration process starts. Candidates must take note that the CMAT Registration is online only.
The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), conducted by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), is the official gateway for admissions into the University MBA programs in thirteen states. This includes states such as Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Karnataka. The governments have officially notified CMAT as their official test. CMAT scores are accepted by around 400+ B schools, running AICTE approved management programmes in India. It is the 2nd largest MBA/PGDM entrance test after CAT2016 in the country.
