IIM Calcutta Selection Process 2016 - 18

IIM Calcutta was started by the Government of India as a First National Institute of Calcutta for the Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Management program. It’s Selection Criteria for Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program is based upon the applicants Common Admission Test (CAT) Scores and Academic Profile.

The admission procedure of applicants will be based upon the Selection Criteria of IIMC which is explained below. It will be conducted in Two Phases which includes Selection of Applicants for Personal Interview (PI) and Criteria for Final Selection for PGP-PGDM. According to the IIM Calcutta, around 400+ students will be admitted in the 2016 – 18 Batch for PGP and other programs. 

In Phase I - Selection of Applicants for Personal Interview (PI)

  • The applicants will be selected for Personal Interview on the basis of their CAT scores and past academic performance.
  • The selection process of applicants will be based upon the minimum section – wise and overall percentile in CAT which is mentioned below in table.
  • The applicants who are obtaining the below mentioned minimum percentile in each category in CAT will be taken into account for calculation of their composite score.

Note: If actual section-wise and overall percentile of shortlisted candidates will be higher than the above mentioned minimum percentile then the candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interview round on the basis of the Composite Scores.

  • The Composite Scores will be evaluated on the basis of CAT scores, Class 10th and 12th aggregate percentages and on the basis of the gender diversity.

Note: During the process of calculating the Composite Scores, The Females applicants will get the Three Points in Extra on the basis of the Gender Diversity factor.

  • The marks will be given to the applicants on the basis of the below mentioned class 10th and 12th aggregate scores criteria

Note: For calculating the percentage of marks obtained in class 10th and 12th,the total marks will be considered irrespective of their Education Board.

  • The Composite Scores will be used for the selection of applicants for Personal Interview round in each category.The total number of shortlisted candidates for Personal Interview round will be based on the batch size of 2016-2018.

  • The candidates whose marks will be based on their composite score then they will be called for the Personal Interview, Written Ability Test (WAT) etc.

Phase 2 - Criteria for Final Selection for PGP-PGDM

  • The final score for the selection of PGP-PGDM program will be evaluated on the basis of the WAT, PI, CAT Scores, Under Graduation and Work Experience. Following are the weightages used for the final selection criteria are given below in the table:

Point Awarded for Academic Diversity for Bachelor’s Degree (ADFB) Candidates who is having any of the following mentioned bachelor’s degree are eligible for ADFB: 
List X: BCA,BS,BBA,B.Com,L.L.B,B.Com(H), BA(H),B.Sc ,B.Pharma,BA,BDS,B.Sc.(H),MBBS or any other Non-Engineering undergraduate degree which are not mentioned above
If (Bachelor’s degree is from the list X)

Note: Those applicants who have less than 6 Months Work-Experience will not be given any weightage during the final selection process. The Highest Weightage will be given to the applicants who are having 2.5 and 3 years Work-Experience and the Maximum 8 Points will be given to the applicants on the basis of their work-experience duration. The points will be allotted to the applicants by following pie chart mentioned below:

  • In the selection process of IIMC the Graduation Score will not be considered as a factor for the selection but during the Interview phase, it will effect indirectly.
