LIBA CAT Cutoff & Admission Criteria 2020

Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai will announce the application procedure for its flagship PGDM program for session 2020-22 in the month of September. LIBA Application Form 2020 will available until January 31 (Expected). 

Candidates willing to pursue PGDM from LIBA must clear CAT Cut off. Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their CAT score are called for group discussion and personal interview rounds for the final selection.

CAT 2019 is going to be scheduled for November 25, 2019  through computer based mode. Candidates having bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks can apply on the official website of CAT from August 5. CAT registration fee for general candidates is INR 1900 and for reserved candidates is INR 900. 

Here are all the important details for LIBA Admission 2020:

  • LIBA offers six specializations in PDGM program including Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Systems and Business Analytics.
  • There are a total of 120 seats in PGDM programme.
  • Students need to score equivalent or higher than CAT Cut-off set by LIBA, Chennai. The expected percentile is 80+.
  • Other than clearing CAT, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with 60% marks or be in the final year of graduation.
  • To apply, the online application form is available at LIBA Official Website. The application fee is INR 1500 which has to paid through credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking.

NOTE: XAT is also accepted if you are applying for this course.

How to Apply at LIBA Chennai?

Candidates seeking admission in LIBA Chennai can apply for the PDGM program only through their online application portal. No offline method is available. Students have to submit their personal and academic details in the application form.

Pre-requisites for applying

Candidates should keep these documents handy before applying for LIBA PGDM 2020:

  • Scanned Passport size photograph
  • Scanned academic certificates
  • Scanned work experience certificates

Application Process

  1. Register yourselves by visiting
  2. After logging into your account using your user name and password, enter your CAT id, personal details and upload your passport size photograph
  3. Enter your academic details and upload the support documents
  4. Enter your work experience details (if any) and upload the support documents and provide some reference information
  5. Confirm all the details and submit the application form.
  6. Make online payment of INR 1500/- through Credit Card / Debit Card/ Net banking.
  7. Download the completed application in PDF and Email it to

LIBA Chennai Selection Criteria

LIBA Chennai has a two- step admission process wherein individuals must qualify each round to advance to the next. The steps involved in securing a seat in LIBA PGDM program are as follows:

  • Clearing CAT Cut off (expected to be 80+ for general) or XAT Cut off
  • Shortlisted students will be participating in subsequent rounds- GD & PI process
  • The final merit list will be based on CAT Score, Academic Profile, and performance in GD & PI round.

For the purpose of shortlisting applicants for PI and other rounds, different weightages are assigned to the scores of different sections of CAT. This will be done to encourage Gender and Academic Diversity. LIBA, Chennai will compute a composite score based on only CAT scores which will be used for selecting aspirants for the PI round. The weightage given to different sections of CAT is given below:


LIBA gives weightage to academic profile as well. So, the candidates should have a consistent academic record of minimum 60% marks in class X, XII & Graduation. Also, candidates with a history of more than two backlogs must not apply.

GD and PI rounds

Candidates who clear the CAT or XAT cut off as laid down by the institute are called for GD and PI rounds. These two components have a weightage in the final composite score. Applicants must attend these rounds as per the schedule announced by the institute. All these rounds will be organized by LIBA at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

  • In the Group Discussion round, candidates will be divided into groups and will have to discuss about the given topic. This round will test their creative thinking ability and socio-political awareness, along with speaking skills.
  • In the Personal Interview round, students will be interviewed by a panel of judges to evaluate their academic profile, quality of work and personal characteristics.

LIBA Chennai Final Merit List 2020

  • LIBA Chennai will create a final merit list based on the performance of individuals in CAT and other qualifying rounds conducted by them.
  • The merit list will be prepared separately for each category.
  • Final admission offers will be made based on ranks secured by applicants in this list.

LIBA Chennai Seat Intake

A total of 120 seats are available at LIBA Chennai for its full time PGDM program. LIBA is a minority institution, so, 50% of the seats are reserved for minority candidates. There is no reservation for SC/ST or NRI candidates. The seats available for each category are as follows:
