    Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai campus is a part of S P Mandali, a charitable trust based in Pune. It offers PGDM, PGP, MMS courses in a number of specializations along with a Ph.D. program in Management Studies. Apart from these courses, the institute also offers part-time, certificate and special courses.

    Welingkar Institute of Management Mumbai Selection process

    Selection process mainly focuses on Academic Potential, Sound Fundamentals Personal Qualities, Leadership Qualities, Creative Skills and Work Experience.

    For PGDM admission, candidates should have a valid CAT / XAT / ATMA / CMAT/ GMAT/ MAH CET with 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree.

    Selection process for various courses is as listed below.

    The Selection Process comprises of the following stages:

    Only short listed candidates will be called after Stage I for Stage II of the selection process.

    In the event of the candidate submitting more than one score, the best of the submitted scores will be considered for evaluation.

    Students are selected based on a comprehensive review of their application and written test scores instead of minimum performance standards.

    Students are required to produce the following attested certificates in original and 2 sets of photocopies during admission:

    • Written Test Identity Card
    • Score card of the test given
    • General Undertaking
    • Anti-Ragging Affidavit from Student and Parent
    • 10th and 12th mark sheets
    • Degree mark-sheets of all semesters
    • Degree Certificate
    • Gap Certificate in prescribed format (if applicable)
    • Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation / SSC Certificate
    • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
    • Caste Validity / Proforma H (if applicable)
    • Income Cert. issued by Tahasildar for EBC students (for income upto INR 6,00,000 only)
    • Proof of Minority (if applicable)
    • Transfer Certificate from last attended college

    Profile based call

    Applicants with a good overall profile will be called for GDPI. The parameters of a good profile will include:

    • Strong academic background,
    • Work experience and good academic consistency
    • Extracurricular initiatives leading to Achievements and Awards (international/ national/ district level)

    These are early interview calls, to benefit the students with a good profile, so they have an opportunity to appear for the GDPI.

    Final selection

    The final selection is based on the composite score of: Entrance Test (35%) +Overall profile (65%)

    The Selection process includes the following parameters:

    Qualifying Entrance Test percentile; Best of percentile in CAT, CMAT, XAT, ATMA, GMAT and MH-CET will be considered35%
    Academics (X,XII, Graduation and Post-Graduation)65%
    Group Discussion and Personal Interview
    Sports, Extra-Curricular activities awards and achievements at District, National, International level, Academic diversity etc.
    Total Composite Score Merit position of the of above parameters will be used for offering admission to a program100%

    Group Discussion and Personal Interview

    This will evaluate the student’s response to the essay questions in the form, work experience, if any, how the candidate responds to the activities and questions posed in the GDPI etc.

    Main focus is on

    • Leadership Qualities,
    • Creative Skills,
    • Work Experience (If Any)
    • Extra Curricular activities: What are your achievements in the past?

    Important points to be Noted

    • Student with a high written test score doesn’t guarantee a short listing as the student may be found lacking on other areas on which the Institute lays emphasis.
    • Students with a low written test may be short listed if they are academic performers / have exhibited leadership qualities / performed exceptionally well on areas of the Institute’s focus.
    • So, there is no Cut Off score as the written test alone cannot be the sole deciding factor in the selection process.

    To test emotive aspects of leadership, decision making skills, ability to handle stress, team orientation, etc. Group Discussions and Interviews have been added as a part of the selection process.
