How to Prepare Quantitative Ability in NMAT 2017?

Quantitative Ability in NMAT carries the maximum weightage of all sections. There are a total of 48 questions, each being reasonably difficult in nature. It is one of those sections that most examinees are terror-stricken about.

Here is a brief about Quantitative Ability Section in NMAT:

  • Most of the questions will come from algebra, geometry, modern mathematics and puzzles.
  • There are questions on DI as well.
  • Candidates will be given only 60 minutes to complete this section.
  • NMAT will be conducted in online mode.
  • There is no negative marking.
  • Every question will carry 3 marks.
  • Exam paper will be in English language only.
  • The sectional cut off will be announced officially along with NMAT Results that candidates must qualify.

  • This section concerns with the candidate’s mental ability and accuracy for mathematical problems.

Preparation Tips for NMAT Quantitative Ability Section

NMAT is not an easy nut to crack. QA section is of moderate difficulty level. Those who are preparing for CAT can easily qualify in the NMAT QA section. NMAT Past Year Analysis of Quantitative Ability Section

NMAT 2016

  • 48 questions were there in QA section, 22 questions on problem-solving, 20 questions were on Data interpretation and remaining 6 were on data sufficiency.
  • Difficulty level of problem-solving is easy to moderate.
  • 3 out of 5 DI questions were highly calculations intensive.
  • A genuine attempt of 35 to 34 is of about 85% accuracy.

NMAT 2014

  • DI and QA had equal weightage in the QA section 2014.
  • Most of the equations varied between easy to moderate difficulty level.
  • Almost equal numbers of questions were asked from all the topics of the arithmetic section.
  • DI section questions were time-consuming.
  • Most of the questions were calculation intensive.
  •  DI sets had four questionseach and were based on bar charts, case lets, pie charts and tables.
  • Some of the DI questions involved the applications of LR abilities.
  • Questions appeared in the sets: the numbers questions were together, geometry questions were together and the DS questions were together.
  • 36-38 questions attempt is considered good.

Qualifying Marks for NMAT Quantitative Ability Section

  • Qualifying marks are the minimum marks required to be scored in the QA section. 
  • NMAT has the provision sectional of cut off which each candidate must clear.
  • Students who have secured minimum cut off will be invited for the further rounds of GD/PI.
