National Aptitude Test in Architecture or NATA is facilitated by the Council of Architecture (CoA). The national level architecture exam is held annually to test candidates’ aptitude and provide them admissions to the 5-year B.Arch. Degree program. NATA 2019 is held in 2 parts, Part A (Maths and General Aptitude – Computer mode) and Part B (Drawing – pen paper mode)

The official notification is expected to be published in December 2018. Intermediate graduates or Diploma holders can apply online at learning.tcsionhub.in/test/nata-2019. The hall tickets/ admit card will be available for download from the official website tentatively in March 2019. Various prominent government and private colleges accept NATA score for admissions. All the aspiring candidates for NATA 2019 can check the relevant information below. The scores of NATA are valid for 2-years from the year in which one appeared.

NATA Eligibility Criteria 2019

Before applying for the examination, there are certain parameters that a candidate must fulfill. They are as follows:

  • 10+2 graduates or appearing with Mathematics as a mandatory subject.
  • 10+3 Diploma holders (any stream)/ appearing recognised by Central/ State Government with Mathematics as one of the subjects. 
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma passed/appearing, after 10 years of schooling with Mathematics as a compulsory subject of examination.
  • There is no age criterion for appearing in NATA 2019
  • There are not any lateral admission criteria for admission in any stage/year of B.Arch course.
  • There is no relaxation for special category students (SC/ST/OBC)

Note: Qualifying NATA 2019 does not guarantee a candidate admission to any architecture program unless the prescribed eligibility conditions as specified by different admission authorities are duly satisfied.

NATA Application Form 2019

NATA 2019 Registration will take place in online mode and is expected to start in January 2019. The form can be accessed, filled and submitted on the official website (www.nata.in) only. The steps in the registration process are as follows:

Step 1: Visit NATA Official Website Candidates

Step 2: Click ‘Register Now’ and fill in the mandatory details.

Step 3: Enter User ID and Password to log in again.

Step 4: Fill Online Application Form ( Personal Details; Communicating Address; Choice of Examination Center; Academic Details)

Step 5: Scan and Upload the required documents (Photo, Signature and Community Certificate).

Step 6: Payment of NATA Application Fee and Submit.

Candidates can make payment through online mode using debit card/credit card and net banking. There is no need to send the NATA application form through offline mode or by post.

NATA Application Fee

NATA 2019 Application Fee is INR 1250 for all candidates. Please note that candidates who opt for Dubai as the exam center have to pay an extra INR 7000. Candidates can choose to pay the application fees via online or offline mode.

  1. Online mode: Fee can be paid using Debit/Credit Cards or Internet Banking.
  2. Offline Mode: By paying through e-challan at any pan India branch of ICICI bank.
Note: Candidate is responsible to bear the bank transaction fees charged at the time of making online/offline payments.

NATA Admit Card 2019

NATA Admit Card 2019 will be made available on the official portal of NATA in March 2019. CoA will issue the hall ticket to all the successfully registered candidate online. The document will be generated according to the schedule notified indicating the examination center for NATA 2018. Steps to download the hall ticket are as follows:

Step 1: Visit the official website.

Step 2: Click on “Download NATA 2019 Admit Card” link

Step 3: Enter NATA UID and password

Step 4: Thoroughly check the details printed on the e-ticket.

Step 5: Download NATA 2019 Admit Card and print multiple copies for future use.

Important Points related to Admit Card

  • One Photo ID Proof – Voter ID, Pan Card/ Aadhar Card/ Driving Licence/ e-Aadhar must be carried along with the document at the exam center
  • Ensure that the photo and signature printed on NATA Hall Ticket are not mutilated/ distorted etc.
  • Preserve the ticket till the completion of admission procedure.
  • Failing to produce the document at the time of NATA 2018, the candidature will stand cancelled.

NATA 2019 Exam Pattern

The examination consists of 2 parts viz.

Part A: comprises of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) to be answered online. It tests candidates on General Aptitude and Knowledge of Mathematics

Part B: to be answered on A4 size drawing sheets. It assess candidate’s drawing/ sketching skills. 

Both the papers will be conducted on the same day with each paper being allotted 90 minutes for completion. The table below depicts NATA Exam Pattern in a comprehensive manner.

It is mandatory for a candidate to attempt both the papers. And, candidates must note that there is no negative marking in NATA exam.

  • General Aptitude: Architectural awareness, Textural Identification of commonly used material and objects, visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects, visualizing three dimensional objects through two dimensional drawing, Imaginative comprehension, and expression, Analytical and Verbal Reasoning, Mental ability (verbal, visual, and numerical), General awareness of renowned architects and famous architectural installations.
  • Mathematics: Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Coordinate Geometry and 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus – Theory & Application, Statistics, and Probability.
  • Drawing Test: Understanding of scale and proportion, geometric composition, building forms and elements, aesthetics, harmony and contrast, colour texture, conceptualization and visualization by structuring objects in memory, drawing geometrical and abstract patterns, form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes, and colour texture, creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms, generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects. Perspective drawing, sketching of urbanscape and landscape, common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.

NATA 2019 Result

The results are expected to be released in June 2019. It can be accessed from NATA’s official website. It will be available in the following three formats:

  1. Aggregate Marks secured as well as scores of each individual section
  2. Merit listing – Based on scores obtained and tie-breaking rules
  3. Percentile score - Based on merit listing

Candidates can check below the steps involved in accessing NATA Result are:

  • Visit the official website of NATA
  • Select “Download scorecard for NATA 2019”
  • Login with the UID and Password
  • Enter the captcha provided
  • View, download and print the scorecard

A consolidated merit list of NATA candidates will be published by Council of Architecture. In merit listing, all candidates will get unique rank. As such, if more than one candidate gets identical aggregate, tie-breaking conditions would be applied in the following order:

  1. Higher score in Mathematics section
  2. Less number of wrong-answers in Mathematics section.
  3. Higher score in problem-solving questions of General Aptitude section.
  4. Less number of wrong-answers in General Aptitude section.
  5. Earlier date of birth

Qualifying marks for NATA would be based on:

  • At least 25% marks to be secured in MCQ section (30 out of 120)
  • At least 25% marks to be secured in Drawing section (20 out of 80)
  • Overall qualifying aggregate marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council of Architecture.

NATA Counselling 2019

NATA qualified candidates can seek admission into the 5 years B. Arch program in different Indian Institutesand Universities by appearing for counselling round for final admission. The candidates need to register and select the choice of seats for participating in NATA 2019 Counselling Process. This is followed by verification of the following documents:

  • Class 10th Mark Sheet
  • Class 12th Mark Sheets
  • NATA Scorecard
  • Reservation certificate (if required by a particular Institute)
  • Birth certificate (if there is an age limit criterion for the particular institute).

Know about NATA 2019 Counselling

Candidates must note the following points.

  • Candidates should have obtained a valid score in both: the qualifying exam and NATA 2019. Candidates’ total score will be assessed by taking 50% marks from 10+2 or any other equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and 50% marks secured in NATA 2019.
  • NATA 2019 Score Card is considered valid only when candidates have secured minimum 25% marks in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) & 25% marks in Drawing portion. (20 out of 80)
  • NATA 2019 scorecard is valid for the academic year 2019-20.
