NATA 2019

NATA 2019 or National Aptitude Test in Architecture 2019 is a national-level entrance test held annually serving as a platform to test candidates’ aptitude and provide them admissions to the 5-year B.Arch. Degree program. NATA is facilitated by the Council of Architecture since 2006. Candidates who have qualified their 10+2 examination, are eligible to take admission through NATA. Check below some major highlights of NATA 2019.

  • NATA 2019 is expected to be held in May, 2019, the official notification for which will be announced in December 2018.
  • Candidates can fill NATA Application Form 2019 through the online mode only tentatively from January 2019.
  • NATA Admit Card 2019 will be available for download from the official website tentatively in March 2019.

NATA Eligibility Criteria 2019

All the candidates planning to attempt NATA 2019 must check whether they are eligible for it or not. NATA Eligibility Criteria as listed below is same for all aspiring candidates. There is no relaxation for special category students (SC/ST/OBC).

  • Candidates who have appeared for/completed 10+2 with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • Candidates appeared for/completed Diploma (10+3 model, any stream) from a recognized body with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • Candidates who after completing the 10th exam, have appeared for/completed IB diploma with Mathematics as a core subject.
  • Students, who have cleared SSC exam and hold an International Baccalaureate diploma passed or are appearing, are also eligible to apply.
  • There is not any lateral admission criteria for admission in any stage/year of B.Arch. course.
  • There is no age criterion for appearing in NATA 2019.

Please note that qualifying NATA 2019 does not guarantee a candidate admission to any architecture program unless the prescribed eligibility conditions as specified by different admission authorities are duly satisfied.

NATA Application Form 2019

NATA 2019 Registration will take place in online mode and is expected to start in January 2019. The Application Form can be accessed, filled and submitted on the official website only. The steps in the registration process are as follows:

  1. Visit the official website of NATA i.e.
  2. Click on the link “Online Application NATA 2019”.
  3. Enter Personal Details (Name, Parents name, DOB, Nationality, Communicating Address, and academic details etc.).
  4. Choose any 3 Exam Centers in order of preference which is later allotted on the basis of ‘first-come-first-allot’ and availability.
  5. A unique 7-digit numeric UID is generated for which candidates need to choose a password.
  6. Upload documents along with applicant’s scanned photograph, specimen signature, and thumb impression. Specific particulars related to images are:

  1. Once images are uploaded, the next step is payment of fees. Candidates have the option of paying the application fees either online or offline.
  2. Upon successful completion of fee payment process, a confirmation page is generated.

Candidates are expected to fill up the Application form in an error-free manner. However, COA provides a short period of time when candidates can change/modify information in their respective application forms online. Beyond this specific correction window, no request for change or modification in NATA 2019 Application Form will be entertained.

NATA 2019 Application Fee

NATA 2019 Application Fee is INR 1250 for all candidates. Please note that candidates who opt for Dubai as the exam center have to pay an extra INR 7000. Candidates can choose to pay the application fees via online or offline mode.

  1. Online mode: Fee can be paid using Debit/Credit Cards or Internet Banking.
  2. Offline Mode: By paying through e-challan at any pan India branch of ICICI bank.

Please note that the candidate is responsible to bear the bank transaction fees charged at the time of making online/offline payments.

NATA Admit Card 2019

NATA Admit Card 2019 will be made available on the official portal of NATA in March 2019. Candidates must take care that Council of Architecture is not responsible for sending NATA 2019 Admit Card via email or courier to any applicants. It has to be downloaded from the official website. NATA Admit Card 2019 is a mandatory document that must be kept safe until the admission process. Candidates can follow these steps to download NATA 2019 Admit Card:

  1. Visit the official website of NATA
  2. Click on “Download NATA 2019 Admit Card” link
  3. Enter applicant’s NATA UID and password
  4. Thoroughly check the details printed on NATA 2019 Admit Card.
  5. Download NATA 2019 Admit Card and print multiple copies for future use.

Candidates’ Name, Examination Roll Number, and other relevant details related to the exam like exam center, timing, instruction etc. will be printed on NATA Admit Card 2019. At the time of the test as well as selection and admission process, NATA Admit Card 2019 has to be supported with the following documents:

  • An identical photograph uploaded in NATA Application Form
  • Valid photo ID issued by the Government of India.

Candidates should make sure that the photograph and signature printed on the admit card are not soiled in any manner. In case, NATA Admit Card 2019 is found to be soiled, the candidate will not be allowed to take the exam.

NATA 2019 Exam Pattern

NATA 2019 is an offline, paper-based test, split into two papers: Paper 1 tests the candidates on General Aptitude and Knowledge of Mathematics while Paper 2 assesses candidates’ Drawing Skills. Both the papers will be conducted on the same day with each paper being allotted 90 minutes for completion. The table below depicts NATA Exam Pattern 2019 in a comprehensive manner.

It is mandatory for a candidate to attempt both the papers. And, candidates must note that there is no negative marking in NATA exam.

  • General Aptitude: Architectural awareness, Textural Identification of commonly used material and objects, visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects, visualizing three dimensional objects through two dimensional drawing, Imaginative comprehension, and expression, Analytical and Verbal Reasoning, Mental ability (verbal, visual, and numerical), General awareness of renowned architects and famous architectural installations.
  • Mathematics: Algebra, Logarithms, Matrices, Permutation and Combination, Coordinate Geometry and 3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus – Theory & Application, Statistics, and Probability.
  • Drawing Test: Understanding of scale and proportion, geometric composition, building forms and elements, aesthetics, harmony and contrast, colour texture, conceptualization and visualization by structuring objects in memory, drawing geometrical and abstract patterns, form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes, and colour texture, creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms, generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects. Perspective drawing, sketching of urbanscape and landscape, common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.

NATA 2019 Result

NATA Result 2019 is expected to be released in June 2019. It can be accessed from NATA’s official website. It will be available in the following three formats:

  1. Aggregate Marks secured as well as scores of each individual section
  2. Merit listing – Based on scores obtained and tie-breaking rules
  3. Percentile score - Based on merit listing

Candidates can check below the steps involved in accessing NATA Result 2019 are:

  • Visit the official website of NATA
  • Select “Download scorecard for NATA 2019”
  • Login with the UID and Password
  • Enter the captcha provided
  • View, download and print the scorecard

A consolidated merit list of NATA 2019 candidates will be published by Council of Architecture. In merit listing, all candidates will get unique rank. As such, if more than one candidate gets identical aggregate, tie-breaking conditions would be applied in the following order:

  1. Higher score in Mathematics section
  2. Less number of wrong-answers in Mathematics section.
  3. Higher score in problem-solving questions of General Aptitude section.
  4. Less number of wrong-answers in General Aptitude section.
  5. Earlier date of birth

Qualifying marks for NATA 2017 would be based on:

  • At least 25% marks to be secured in MCQ section (30 out of 120)
  • At least 25% marks to be secured in Drawing section (20 out of 80)
  • Overall qualifying aggregate marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council of Architecture.

NATA Counselling 2019

NATA qualified candidates can seek admission into the 5 years B. Arch program in different Indian Institutesand Universities by appearing for counselling round for final admission. The candidates need to register and select the choice of seats for participating in NATA 2019 Counselling Process. This is followed by verification of the following documents:

  • Class 10th Mark Sheet
  • Class 12th Mark Sheets
  • NATA Scorecard
  • Reservation certificate (if required by a particular Institute)
  • Birth certificate (if there is an age limit criterion for the particular institute).

Candidates must note the following points.

  • Candidates should have obtained a valid score in both: the qualifying exam and NATA 2019. Candidates’ total score will be assessed by taking 50% marks from 10+2 or any other equivalent examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and 50% marks secured in NATA 2019.
  • NATA 2019 Score Card is considered valid only when candidates have secured minimum 25% marks in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) & 25% marks in Drawing portion. (20 out of 80)
  • NATA 2019 scorecard is valid for the academic year 2019-20.
