B.Tech at Indian Naval Academy Kerala Through JEE Main 2020

    Indian Navy is inviting application for unmarried male candidates for 4-years degree course under the 10+2 (B. Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme through JEE Main 2020.

    • Interested and eligible candidates applied from May 31 2019, to June 17, 2020, on the official website, i.e.
    • Candidates must score a minimum of 70% marks in class 12 to be eligible for admission to the program.
    • Qualifying candidates will be shortlisted for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based on JEE Main 2020 AIR.
    • After selection, candidates will undergo training for which the academy will bear the cost.

    JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam organised by NTA for admission to various branches of B.Tech program. The exam will be conducted twice a year (January and April) online (computer based) mode. Candidates having bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks in 10+2 are eligible to apply for JEE Main exam. 

    Indian Navy B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates who have appeared for JEE Main 2020 exam can only be applied for Indian Navy 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry January 2020. 

    Educational Qualification: Candidate should have passed class 12 with minimum 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class 10 or Class 12).

    Age Criteria: Candidates born between 02 Jul 2000 to 01 Jan 2003 (both inclusive) are only eligible to apply for the program. Obtain JEE Main AIR, call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) will be issued.

    Physical Standards:

    1. Minimum height of the candidate should be 157 cms and weight correlated as per age.
    2. Candidate should not be colour/night blind.
    3. The minimum acceptable vision standards for distant vision is 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses.
    4. Permanent body tattoos should not be there on the inner face of forearms and not on any other body part.

    Indian Navy Selection Procedure based on JEE Main Score

    Once the registration will close, applicants will be shortlisted for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based All India Rank of JEE Main. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their SSB interview via E-mail or SMS as details provided by them in their application form.

    SSB interview will be conducted in 2 stages i.e.

    Stage I- Group Discussion, intelligence test, and picture perception test. Candidates who do not qualify this stage will be routed back on the same day. 

    Stage II- This test will last for four days and consists of psychological testing, group testing and interview. If candidates qualify stage II, they will undergo Medical Examination that lasts approx 03-05 days.

    The training is scheduled to start in the month of January. The Indian Navy will bear the entire cost of training. Free clothing and mess service will also be provided to the cadets.

    How to apply at Indian Naval Academy for B.Tech Admissions?

    Follow the steps mentioned below to apply at the Indian Naval Academy for B.Tech admissions.

    1. Visit the official website i.e.
    2. Create a new account.
    3. Fill in the application form between May 31, 2019, to June 17, 2019 (Over)
    4. Scan and upload the following documents (preferably in original) in PDF form while filling up the application form. 

    It is to be noted that once the application is closed, no request for changes will be entertained so fill the application form carefully.

    Privileges and other benefits

    Indian Navy provides mess/club/sports facilities (surfing, rafting etc.), free medical facilities for self & dependents, Furnished Govt. accommodation, canteen facilities, car/housing loan at subsidised rates, entitled ration. There is also 40% rail concession and free travel for self and dependents.

    Officer will be granted an insurance cover of Rs. Seventy-five lakhs (on contribution). There are 20 casual leave and 60 annual leave every year. Leave during the training period will be as per the Training Policy in force.

    Hi Shashwat, yes, June 17, 2019 was the last date to apply for this course. However, application forms for new session are expected to release in May, next year.

    Hi Dhanush, Yes, you are eligible. Age limit for NAVY is a candidate must have been born on or after Oct 1, 1993.

    Hi Harshith, intelligence test will consist of basic questions from reasoning (verbal and non-verbal) while in picture perception test, you will be shown a hazy black and white picture for 30 seconds after which you will have to write your own story. Time allotted for the process will be 4 minutes.

    Hi Ayush, marks of JEE Main alone are not considered to be sufficient for direct SSB. candidate should have passed class 12 with minimum 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class 10 or Class 12) to be eligible for applying for direct entries.

    Hi Mahipal, Yes The college does require the JEE MAINS for the admission, and JEE MAINS refers to JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
