Almost all the states and colleges participating in JEE Main, have their own respective counselling and seat allotment process for various B.Tech programs and allied branches of study. In Haryana, the overall process of selecting eligible candidates, preparing merit lists and conducting counselling for B.Tech programs is managed by the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES).
The counselling process is mainly conducted for various aided and unaided government colleges, private colleges etc. in the state of Haryana. Candidates are primarily selected on the basis of JEE Main and qualifying examination scores.

Now, there are also other requisites to be kept in mind such as application deadlines, eligibility criteria, cutoffs of qualifying exam subject marks, subjects passed at 10+2 level, counselling process, application fees etc. All the different processes are discussed below in detail.
The application process for Haryana B.Tech admissions is an online one. Since the JEE Main 2018 results are expected to be out by the April end 2018, the process for applying for Haryana B.Tech 2018 Admissions can be expected to start soon after. Candidates are selected on the basis of JEE Main 2018 Rank and the qualifying exam marks. They will be called for the counselling process, on the basis of seats allotted to them through the merit lists and preference for choice of college.
There are different categories for admission to B.Tech Programs in the state of Haryana - regular category, Tuition Fee Waiver scheme, Kashmiri Migrants or the Haryana Government School Toppers category.
The eligibility criteria for Haryana B.Tech Admissions through JEE Main is discussed below which primarily comprise JEE Main Score and marks of qualifying examination:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with 45% marks from a recognized board or university with compulsory Physics and Mathematics, and any one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or Technical Vocational subjects. The qualifying marks is 42.75% for SC/ST candidates for admission to B.Tech programs.
For B.Tech in Biotechnology, it is 10+2 level or equivalent with 45% marks from a recognized board or university with compulsory Physics and Mathematics or Biology as compulsory subjects and any one of the subjects of Chemistry, Computer Science or Biotechnology.
However, the criteria differs for Kashmiri Migrants, Haryana Government School Toppers and those applying under the TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme).
1) Kashmiri Migrants will be given supernumerary seats on basis of inter-se merits of qualifying exams, wherein aggregate percentages are calculated on the basis of Maths, Physics, English and any of the following subject scores; Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational. The original certificate of Migration also has to be produced here.
2) In case of Haryana Govt. School Topper candidates, the seats are given on the basis of inter se merit of 10+2 level, passed in 2018 for every topper. He or she must have 50% marks minimum in the Science stream. It is also important to submit necessary certificates in case of toppers, as supporting evidence, from the principal of their respective government school.
3) Candidates under Tuition Fee Waiver category, are also provided with supernumerary seats which will be filled in all the institutions on the basis of JEE Main 2018 Counselling Process.
To participate in Haryana B.Tech Admissions procedure, it is necessary for a candidate to register and fill in the application form at the official site of HSTES with required details such as personal information, contact number, email address, academic qualifications, percentage of marks, etc.
The application fee of INR 200 can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking or e-challan. To make payments via e-challan, applicants have to visit any nearest branch of Axis Bank or Punjab National Bank. The application fees once paid is non-refundable.
Then, the much-awaited merit list is released online by HSTES, the conducting body. As mentioned earlier, merit list is prepared on the basis of performance in JEE Main score and qualifying exam. The list will be published separately for various categories.
With regard to the B.Tech Cutoffs for admissions, it varies from college to college and course to course. All the colleges participating in Haryana B.Tech 2018 admissions will release their cutoffs on their official sites.
The preference for choice of college has to be provided through choice filling, choice locking and registering for the admission counseling process. If any candidate fails to lock the choices, the last filled choice becomes auto-locked. A counselling fee of INR 500 must also be paid at this stage. Finally, seats will be allotted on the basis of the filled choices, ranks and seat availability at the various colleges.
It is mandatory for selected candidates to report at the allotted colleges for document verification, payment of semester fees and other requirements. To participate in subsequent rounds of counseling, an additional counseling fees of INR 500 has to be deposited and preference for choice of college has to be filled in again.
The list of participating colleges in the Haryana B.Tech 2018 admissions can be checked from the official site after the release of admission brochure.
