Q 1. What did you choose - Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?
There was only offline mode of answering in 2012.
Q 2. Did you qualify for JEE - Advanced?
The time, I appeared for JEE Main, JEE Advanced was not introduced.
Q 3. Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?
I took coaching in my class 12th from Aakash Institute as it has tie-up with my school- DPS Ruby Park. It did not help me at all as I ended up being flustered between the institute tests and school tests. A lot of the times, the methods you learn to solve questions in the institute are not allowed in school.
As I invested most of my time in solving for coaching I ended up messing all my school tests as they said I can’t do it. And learning separately seemed redundant and made me lose interest in both at the end. Whenever I thought about, I should have concentrated just on school and relaxed more. Because I would have got same score even then. But I was not the most interested student of the slot, I didn’t put a lot of effort in anything unless it particularly interests me, and school never interested me. You may call me a slacker but right now, I am working on projects that range from designing an entire car chassis to creating a stabilizing mechanism for a space debris removal satellite.
Q 4. How did you manage JEE Main Preparation along with your Class 12th exam?
I did not, in short the coaching class syllabus made me very interested because it was actually interesting and then studying for school seemed like a drag and redundant. Honestly, I was never a fan of our education system and the only reason I even put in a little effort was because of peer pressure (yes it’s actually a good thing sometimes).
I wasn’t hard worker for sure, but I was not low intellect student which led me staying around a lot of toppers and indirectly solved a lot of questions with them, which is probably 60% of my preparation whenever I did. Class 12th boards were not really in my mind and I spent one month before it solely for it, although I couldn’t study properly for it then but it is more than enough while I think about it now.
Q 5. What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?
My strongest area was Mathematics and my weakest area included Chemistry. I cannot remember things most of the time because I am not interested enough to do so and the other reason being I don't trust my memory and often mess up with stuffs. So I improved subjects like my Physics and Mathematics as much as possible and the highest scores in mathematics in class 12 in my school.
Q 6. What mock papers did you take?
I attended almost all of the tests conducted by Aakash and that’s it. I did not prepare for it differently.

Q 7. Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?
If you are like me and can’t remember stuffs to save your life you would think lets study Chemistry especially inorganic as close to the exam as possible. But let me tell you, it won’t work. Start it right now and the best way would be cue cards, I make a lot of cue cards in college and it helps a lot, try remembering them as general facts which should be easy to do in 2 months if you give even 2 hours a day. Practice Maths properly and religiously everyday (for JEE not boards, boards Maths is just easy). And always try to look for a better way if you think your solution is way too long, because your working does not matter in JEE Main.
Q 8. What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?
I wouldn’t want to get another college. I am happy and the college is perfect for a student like me who is more into applied stuffs and does not put effort into rote learning and earning grades.
