CBSE Mandates Aadhaar Number for JEE Main 2018

CBSE has made it mandatory to have an Aadhaar card to apply for the exam. Such candidates who already have an Aadhaar card will have to enter their aadhaar number in their JEE Main Application Form. Those who have applied for their Aadhaar but have not received it yet will have to provide Aadhaar Enrolment Id in the application form. 

  • Online application process for JEE Main 2018 will begin on December 1, 2017.
  • The number of attempts for JEE Main is limited to 3. Check JEE Main Eligibility
  • Applicants from J&K, Meghalaya and Assam are, however, exempted from the requirement of an Aadhaar number.
  • Those who have enrolled and are yet to receive their Aadhaar card will use 28 digit enrollment number.
  • Last year 104 centers were set up by CBSE to facilitate enrolment for Aadhaar cards. Check JEE Main Exam Center

Important Guidelines for Aadhaar Requirement

Candidates who are planning to apply for JEE Main should go through the detailed guidelines issued by CBSE for Aadhaar requirement. Some of the important guidelines are mentioned below.

  1. Aadhaar Numbers will facilitate verification of candidates’ details.
  2. Aadhaar number, name, date of birth and gender must be entered at the time of filling JEE Main Application Form.
  3. Candidates without Aadhaar number need to enrol at any Aadhaar enrollment centre.

  1. CBSE is expected to set up various facilitation centers this year as well for Aadhaar enrollment.
  2. Those who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received the number yet, can apply for JEE Main with the help of Aadhaar enrollment ID.
  3. The provision of Aadhaar is not applicable for candidates from the states of J&K, Assam and Meghalaya. Such applicants will produce passport number, ration number, bank account number, or any other valid Govt. identity number.

Ques. Candidate who have recently submitted the request for updation in Aadhaar details (including biometric updation) and unable to apply with the updated Aadhaar Card Details.

Ans. Such Candidates have to apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.

Ques. The date of birth is not fully or incorrectly mentioned in Aadhaar card or only birth year is mentioned.

Ans. In such cases, candidates must submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and then apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request. 

Ques. The name of the candidate in Aadhaar in not exactly similar or not in same pattern as in school records.

Ans. Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply with the 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID/UR No. issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request. Or,

Fill the application form of JEE Main 2018 with old Aadhaar details and thereafter submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre. The updated details in Aadhaar may be corrected in JEE Main appliocation form at a later stage by the process which will be notified in due course of time.

Ques. The name of father/ mother doesn’t match those mentioned in school records. The address mentioned in Aadhaar has been changed due to transfer or some other reason.

Ans. These particular are not being matched with Aadhaar data so the candidates should correctly fill these particulars as per school records. The present/permanent address may also be filled accordingly since CBSE do not send any communication on the candidates’ address.

Ques. How do candidates of Assam/J&K/Meghalaya who have no Aadhaar Card apply for JEE Main 2018?

Ans. Candidates who have passed or are appearing in 10+2 from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government identity number. It must be noted that these candidates will be able to an exam centre in their respective states only.
