With the releasing of JEE Mains 2019 Paper I result, came the news of Bojja Chetan Reddy the topper of JEE Mains 2019. He is from Andhra Pradesh and has topped JEE Main this year with a stunning score of 100 percentile in the JEE Main exam 2019. JEE Main 2019 exam result came with a lot of stress for students, however, it brought immense happiness in Reddy family of Krishna district. His success is a source of motivation for JEE Main 2020 aspirants.
How does he feel about his phenomenal achievement?
He says he had made an estimation of marks that he will score in all the three subjects of JEE Main. When he matched his answers with JEE Main official answer key, he knew he will score well, but 100 percentile was a big surprise for him too. He is content as he made his parents proud and is now looking forward to getting a seat in his dream college i.e. IIT Bombay.
What inspired him to prepare for JEE Main?
Since class 6th, he had developed an interest in Maths and being a determined child he knew what he wanted to do. He has always been studious and had decided to pursue engineering from IIT. With a strong determination and support from his family, he decided to go for JEE Main. Also, his sister was NEET topper for 2017, so it can be said that he sought inspiration in the family.
What was his preparation strategy for the exam?
As he was sure about pursuing Engineering, hence, he started with a foundational course in class VIII. In class XI he enrolled himself at Sri Chaitanya Institute where he received his coaching for JEE. With their intensive curriculum, he got all that he wanted to clear the JEE exam. He shares that he used to study for 13 hours everyday. His aim was to complete the syllabus as soon as possible, so that he gets enough time for revision and mock tests. Talking about Mock tests and Sample papers, to what extent does Bojjan thinks they help in the preparation?
According to him, mock test papers and sample papers are extremely important as they give you an edge for preparation. Also, mock test papers help you get rid of the exam anxiety. During his final days of preparations, he used to take mock tests on a daily basis to have a better and clear understanding of the JEE Main exam pattern. Mock test papers teach you effective time management.
As we know, the study material is one of the keys to success. So, what was Bojjan's study material that helped him in this achievement?
As per him, the study material provided by his coaching institute was sufficient. They had covered all the important topics in their curriculum, therefore, he did not require any other reference books. His teachers at the institute were quite helpful and would guide him through the conceptual errors he was making during his practice. Doubt clarification was another great help from his teachers.
Tell us something about your family and how they helped you during your struggle?
He shares that he lives in a nuclear family, his father is a professor and the Head of Department of Electronics at the Lakireddy Bali Reddy Engineering College and, his mother is a housewife. He has an elder sister who had topped NEET 2017 exam. Further, his father and mother were a constant source of motivation for him. His father would guide him often during his preparations and his mother would make sure he never misses his meals.
"All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy", does this dictum proves to be true in Bojjan's case?
He studied for 13 hours everyday. He further adds that, chess is his favourite game and he would make sure to take out time for it so that he doesn’t feel overburdened with all the studying. Breaks helped him concentrate better at his preparation.
What would be his piece of advice to future JEE Main aspirants?
He believes that it is highly important to be clear with one’s ultimate goal. Once, you set your goal, just go for it. Invest your time and put in a lot of hard work for greater success in life. He comments, "No matter what, just don't give up on your dreams".
