JEE Main 2020 Application Form - Register at

JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by NTA twice in the month of January and April for admissions into B.E, B.Tech and B.Arch offered by IIITs, NITs, GFTIs and SFTIs across India. It is held in two papers – Paper 1 is for B.Tech/B.E and Paper 2 is for B.Arch/B.Planning.  

The application form for JEE Main 2020 will be made available only in online mode in the month of September 2019.

What's new in JEE Main 2020 Application Form?

  • The 10% reservation to Economically Weaker Section candidates will be applicable in JEE Main 2020. Eligible candidates must mark themselves as such while filling the form and also keep the EWS certificate ready.
  • Candidates can appear for both the sessions. Those who appear in January need not to reregister for April session, they can directly apply using their application number and password.
  • Also, candidates can apply for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 through single application form.
  • Registration can be done with Aadhaar Card/ Passport/ bank account/ ration card/ any other valid govt. identity details.
  • Unlike earlier, parent's signatures are not required to fill the JEE Main 2020 application form.
  • There is no separate application process for international applicants.
  • No weightage will be given to class XII scores while preparing the merit list of JEE Main.
  • However, candidate must score more than 75% marks in class XII or should be in top 20 percentile of their respective board examination.

JEE Main 2020 Application Dates

JEE Main 2020 will be conducted twice in the months of January and April, 2020. The official dates will be updated here once they are released by NTA. Meanwhile, candidates can take a look at the tentative schedule below:

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates willing to appear in JEE Main 2020 must check the eligibility criteria laid down by NTA. Candidature of ineligible candidates will be rejected without any notice. The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows:

Age criteria

  • Candidates must be more than 17 years and less than 25 years of age as on October 1, 2020.
  • General candidate must be born on or after October 1, 1995 and SC, ST and PWD category must be born on or after October 1, 1989.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Candidates must have cleared or appearing in standard 12th or equivalent examination with at least 5 subjects.
  • For B.E/B.Tech – Physics, Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology is mandatory.
  • For B.Arch/B.Planning – Mathematics with at least 50% in aggregate of 5 subjects.

Year of Passing

  • Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam in 2018, 2019 or will be passing in 2020 are only eligible to appear for JEE Main 2020.

Number of Attempts

  • Applicants can appear for JEE Main a maximum of 3 times that too in consecutive years. Attempting both sessions in the same year will be counted as one.

JEE Main Application Form 2020

The application form will be filled and submitted in online mode only. Candidates must have an active email id and phone number in order to apply for the exam.

While filling the details in the application form, candidates have to upload the scanned copies of recent passport size photograph and signature.

Steps to Fill Application Form Online

Candidates can follow these five simple steps to fill the application form:

Candidates have to visit the JEE Main official website – and click on “Apply for JEE Main 2020” button. The registration window will open and candidates will have to mention the following details:

  • State of eligibility
  • Identification Type (Aadhaar, Student ID, Passport, Ration Card, Bank Account)
  • Identification ID
  • Name of the Candidate
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Security Pin

Submit the details and note down the application number.

Step 2 – Filling the Application Form

After the registration is done, candidates will have to fill the application form by giving the following details:

Candidate’s nameIncludes the details of first name, middle name and last name.
Email idA valid functional email id which can be used for further communication
Mobile numberA functional mobile number so that candidates can receive the notification on the phone regarding the exam and issue of admit card.
AgeAge has to be given in years and months eg: 24 years and 8 month
Date of birthTo verify the age, Date of Birth must be mentioned in the format of (DD/MM/YYYY)
Father’s nameName of candidate’s father as printed in class 10 certificate
Mother’s nameName of candidate’s mother as printed in class 10 certificate
Class 10 marksPercentage marks obtained in class 10 and the year of passing class 10
Reservation detailsUpload the certificate issued and registered with government bodies.
Address detailsDetails of street, city, district, pin code, country etc.
Selection of PaperCandidate will have to choose paper 1/ paper 2 or both to appear.
Selections of Exam CitiesCandidates have to select any four cities of their choice in the order of preference.

Click on ‘save’ button to move on to the third step.

Step 3 - Uploading of Scanned Documents

The third step involves upload of scanned photograph and signature. To do so, students have to click on “Upload Scanned Images” tab.

Step 4 - Payment of Application Fees

After successfully uploading the scanned documents, candidates need to pay the application fee.

Mode of payment

  • Candidates can pay the application fee online via credit card/ debit card or net banking.
  • Application fee can also be submitted in cash via e-challan at ICICI, Canara or syndicate bank.

Step 5 – Printout of Acknowledgement Page

The final step of filling the form is downloading filled application form/acknowledgement page. Candidates have to print 4 copies of their acknowledgment page along with fee receipt. They must keep the acknowledgment page safely for future use.

Status of JEE Main Application Form 2019

Candidates need to click on the “Application Form Progress” feature on the left corner of the application window. Using this feature, the candidates can check the following:

  • View Application Form
  • View Scanned Images
  • View Payment Status

The candidates can partly fill and save the form and can complete the form later. It is not compulsory to fill the form in one go.

Candidates must keep the following documents ready before they start with the registration process:

JEE Main 2020 Form Correction Window

NTA will open an application form correction window for candidates to edit or make changes in the application form if necessary. Candidates who filled any incorrect information can correct the details in this period.

  • All details can be changed except the choice of exam centers.
  • An additional fee may have to be paid depending on the changes made.
  • Photo and signature can also be updated.

Changes can be made in this period only. No request to edit any details will be entertained further.
