JEE Main Preparation Tips by Purvi Mittal

Updated On - June 19th 2019

Ques- What did you choose- Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam ?

Ans- Online mode is the one which I preferred.
PROS- As usually the online exam is after the offline one so you get more time for revision. Online exam allows reviewing and changing answers even till the last minute but in offline once the bubbles are filled no changes can be made.

CONS- Looking at the screen continuously for 3 hours can be tiresome. We generally give mock test in offline mode so adapting to this can be difficult.

Ques- Did you take Coaching Classes? If yes, how did they help in your story ?

Ans- Yes I took coaching from FIITJEE for both main and advanced. The coaching institute guides you the path to follow to score good but the inputs are need to be given. The centre I choose was not a good one and the teachers were not very good but joining any coaching helps maintaining regularity in work and practice. It boosted confidence when I solved the Study material provided by the Institute. One can find many people working for the same cause of getting into a reputed college this gives an urge to study and one can constantly get to know his position and try to improve. Teachers are also there to solve the doubts.

Here some other Tips to crack JEE MAIN 2017 Exam

Ques- How did you manage JEE Main Preparation along with your Class 12th exam ?

Ans- Mostly the syllabus for the two is common. If you are from CBSE board then one has to do nothing extra. If one solves competitive level problems simultaneously with the learning then he can easily score well in the exam. The level of difficulty is not very high but demands clarity of concept.

Ques- What were your Strong and Weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them ?

Ans- Maths- This part was strong except the probability part and coordinate system. For probability one should focus on formula and know permutation and combinations well. For coordinate geometry one should learn the formulas thoroughly and have good practise.
Chemistry- Learning has always been a problem so I was weak in inorganic chemistry and some part of organic chemistry. For this one has to learn regularly and revise it daily. Making short notes on every topic will be helpful.
Physics- This part is not very difficult but the rotation and mechanics becomes tough to handle. For this one has to be focused from the starting of the chapter and keep concepts clear.

Ques- What mock papers did you take?

Ans- Mock paper plays an essential role in JEE preparation as we have to solve problems in a given time frame and for this one has to learn to manage time. I joined FIITJEE's AITS (All India Test Series). It is a national level test series conducted twice in a month where one gives an exam of similar pattern as of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. AITS is of very high level and is generally not helpful in evaluating ones potential in JEE Main one should prefer other coaching test series. AITS won't help much but still helps learn time management.

Ques- What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?

Ans- Having more focus on studies is what matters at the end. So a better plan needs to be followed without wasting time on unwanted things, Also try to be regular and learn everything from the basics, having less focus on the final result and Making the most from the time available.

Ques- Write some of the Preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

Ans- Spend one day making your strategy. Make sure you are aware of all of the required reading for the course. Go through the entire textbook and try to produce a reading schedule and a preliminary deadline for when you need to be finished with the reading of the book. Now you have 1 month for each subject and 1 month for revision. It is not a difficult task if you remain focused. Ensure you give the required amount of time to each subject based on your proficiency and the vastness of the syllabus. You need to make a list of the important things and the one which are less important and follow it. If you have time do the ones which are less important.
Focus equally on all the three subjects as all have same weightage and low score in one can get you into troubles.
