JEE Main Result 2017 Declared- Top things to do

JEE Main Result 2017 for both online and offline mode engineering exam will be declared on the official website on April 27, 2017. For paper II, JEE Main Results will be announced on May 27, 2017. Login into the official website using your application number and date of birth to check the result.

JEE Main Result 2017 includes candidates’ scores in each section as well the total score. A separate rank list comprising the All India Rank of the candidate is also generated on the same day. Here are some salient features of JEE Main Results 2017:

  • CBSE has discarded the consideration of weightage of class XII marks for the calculation of JEE Main normalized scores.
  • Candidates with minimum 75% marks in Class XII (65% for SC/ST) or candidates in top 20 percentile of their states qualify for admission to NITs, GFTIs and IIITs participating in JoSAA Counselling.
  • Candidates from states such as Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, Uttrakhand and Nagaland must appear for JEE Main for admission to B.Tech course in their state.

JEE Main OMR Sheet and Answer Key will be published on the official website from April 18-April 22, 2017. Last date to challenge the answer key is April 22, 2017.

For this year, experts predict that due to large number applications and moderate difficulty, the JEE Main 2017 Cut off will be higher for general category candidates. The JEE Main Cut off for this year is expected to be 105 while it is expected to be similar to last year cut off for reserved categories.

  • Apply for JEE Main Counselling after declaration of JEE Main Result- Candidates are shortlisted for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs through JEE Main Counselling conducted by JoSAA in approximately six rounds. There 92 participating institutes offering around 34895 seats. Registration for JEE Main Counselling commences from July 2017 on the official website.
  • Eligible candidates can apply for JEE Advanced- Top 2, 20, 000 candidates as per the JEE Main Result 2017, are qualified for JEE Advanced. Online applications will be available at from April 28, 2017 till May 02, 2017. JEE Advanced is expected to be conducted on May 21, 2017. JEE Main Result 2017 and Expected Cut off

JEE Main Results for Paper I (both online and offline mode) will be announced on the official website on April 27, 2017 while for Paper II, the results will be announced on May 27, 2017. Login to using roll number and date of birth to download the scorecard.

JEE Main Score Card includes normalized scores of the candidate, personal details and status of candidate’s qualification for JEE Advanced. After obtaining the score card, candidates can access the JEE Main Rank Card from the official website soon after downloading the JEE Main Scorecard. Here are the details given on the JEE Main Rank card:

  • All India Rank
  • State Rank of the candidate
  • Category Rank
  • Total Marks scored by the candidate
  • Section wise Marks obtained by the candidate

As predicted by JEE Exam Head of TIME, Hyderabad and other experts (including various known institutes and coaching centers), the JEE Main Cutoff for this year will be higher than the last year. This would be due to moderate difficulty level of the examination and more number of applications. Here is the expected JEE Main Cut off for different categories:

JEE Advanced 2017: Eligibility and Online Application

JEE Advanced, organized by JAB (Joint Admission Board) enables candidates to seek admission to various IITs and ISM, Dhanbad. Top 2.2 lac candidates qualifying JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced. Detailed eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced is given below:

  • Minimum 75% marks in the qualifying exam of Class XII for general category while for reserved category, the minimum marks required is 65%
  • The minimum age required to appear for the exam is 17 years.
  • Candidates are eligible for 2 attempts consecutively in 2 years. (1 attempt per year)

The online registration for JEE Advanced begins from April 28, 2017 and will close by May 02, 2017. Candidates have to fill the online application form for JEE Advanced available on the official website i.e.

The application fee for the exam depends on the category and exam center chosen by the candidate. For centers in India, the application fee is INR 2400 (INR 1200 for SC/ST/Female candidates). For centers outside India, the application fee for all category candidates is USD 135.

The steps followed to apply for JEE Advanced are enlisted below:

  • Registration and Form filling- Enter your roll number and date of birth on the official website. After that, choose a new password for JEE Advanced. You are redirected to new page wherein you have to mention your personal and academic details. Mention number of attempts, choice of center and language etc.
  • Uploading Documents- Upload JPEG images of colored photograph, signature, left hand thumb impression and class X and XII certificates
  • Paying Application fee- Pay the application fee in either online (Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking) or offline mode (cash payment at SBI bank) in the next step.

JEE Main Counselling

JEE Main Counselling will commence after the declaration of JEE Advanced 2017 Results. It is organized by two authorities separately. For admission to IITs, NITs and GFTIs, the process is controlled by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). For SFTIs (Self-Funded Technical Institutes) and NEUTs (North East and Union Territory Institutes), counselling is organized by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board).

The candidates have to register online for JEE Main Counselling 2017 from July 2017. Here are the steps to register for JEE Main Counselling:

  • Online Registration- Login on the official website of JEE Main using roll number and password after clicking on the link for JoSAA. Fill the particulars given in the form and submit the details after verification.
  • Choice Filling and Locking- Select the type of institute, name and program applied. Choose colleges and programs (editable). Lock the choices by clicking on Lock button to submit the choice. Candidates must lock the choices before last date of registration
  • Seat Allotment- Candidates are informed about the allocated seat via SMS or mail few days after choice locking. They also receive a seat allotment letter which must be downloaded and printed.
  • Accepting seat, Paying fee and Verifying the Documents- Pay the seat acceptance fee for allotted seat through Net Banking/e-challan. Get all the necessary documents verified at the reporting center. After this, a provisional admission letter is provided to the candidate
