5 Things to Keep in Mind During XAT Registration 2019

XAT 2019 will be conducted on January 06, 2019 in online mode. Those candidates who wish to appear for the exam can fill the application form by August 20 to November 30, 2018. There is four step to fill application form:

  • Registration
  • Filling of application form
  • Uploading required documents
  • Payment of fees.

Candidates have to enter general details about themselves, their academic and work profile and the program they wish to pursue in the application form. Even though the steps are not complex, there are numerous fields to fill which can be perplexing. This can be the reason why students may fumble while performing Registration.

To avoid any discrepancies, certain points must be kept in mind while filling application form. This article will help to look at major points, that can be utilized for its successful submission.

Meeting the Eligibility Criteria

The first thing students should do is to ensure that they meet XAT Eligibility Criteria. Applications submitted by only eligible individuals will be considered by the organizing body.

Participants should have completed their bachelor degree in any stream to fulfill the basic eligibility criteria. Benefit for students is that there is no minimum aggregate required the bachelor degree.

The conditions vary as per nationality, age, academics and program. The guidelines governing eligibility criteria are given below:

  • Indian, as well as Foreign nationals, can apply for XAT 2019. International students can also be admitted into the affiliated institutes through GMAT (except residents of Dubai and Kathmandu).
  • Candidates of all age groups are eligible for the exam. Age is no bar for XAT.
  • A graduation degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline is the minimum academic requirement for the exam. Applicants awaiting their result of the qualifying degree are also eligible provided they fulfill the above conditions.

Points to remember while filling XAT 2018 Application Form

Individuals must know How to Apply for XAT beforehand with utmost attention. It is necessary to read all the instructions carefully before proceeding to fill the form.

The first step is to perform registration for the exam by providing basic personal and contact details. Candidates should use a valid email ID and mobile number for this purpose as this is where they will receive their provisional XAT ID and Password.

The real task starts after registration is complete. Aspirants must fill all necessary details such as- Personal Information, Contact details, Program Selection (for courses offered in XLRI) and Academic details. They must ensure that all the compulsory (* marked) fields are filled. Avoid typos, numerical errors or entering incorrect information in the application.

Once all the entries have been filled, go through the preview of the application form to correct any noticeable mistakes. Though XAT gives its applicants ample chance to edit the form, it is better to complete the entire process in one go.

Specifications of Documents to be Uploaded

Uploading scanned images of passport size photograph and signature is an essential step of registration and application process for XAT. These documents should be as per the specifications mentioned by the exam authorities. The process will be considered incomplete without these images and will not be processed. The guidelines for uploading scanned images are given below:

Passport size photograph

  • The photograph should be passport- sized and colored, taken recently against a light- colored background (preferably white).
  • You must look straight at the camera with a relaxed face. No shadows or reflections should feature in the picture.
  • If you wear glasses ensure that your eyes can be clearly seen and there is no ‘red-eye’ effect.
  • Hats, caps or dark glasses are not acceptable. However, religious headwear is allowed as long as it does not cover your face.
  • The dimensions of the image should be as follows

  • Aspirants must sign on a white paper using a Black Ink Pen.
  • The signature should be done by the applicant and not by any other person.
  • This signature will be put on XAT Admit Card and other necessary documents.
  • The signature done by individuals on attendance sheet should match with that uploaded during registration.

Payment of XAT 2018 Application and Additional Fee

Paying the application fee of XAT is the final step of the application process. Fee can be remitted via both online and offline mode. The application fee is INR 1700 irrespective of the category of individuals. In addition to this, candidates who wish to pursue various programs offered by XLRI have to pay INR 300 per course.

Students who do not pay the application fee within the limited time period will be penalized. They will have to pay INR 2000 as the application fee and INR 500 for each course they wish to join at XLRI.

Note: The fees for NRI and International students are INR 5000. They will have to pay an additional fee of $25 and $50 respectively for any program they wish to pursue at XLRI.

Applying for Other Colleges

A number of good business schools admit students on the basis of XAT Scores. Applicants desirous of joining any of the institutes that are members of XAMI must register for these institutes separately. The guidelines given below will help them in having a clear idea about this process-

  • The primary step is to register for XAT 2019 and appear for the exam.
  • Candidates must then apply for the desired college. They can garner more information about XAT Participating Institutes here.
  • The process of applying for different institutes is quite similar to that of XAT. Interested students must provide personal and academic information in these forms and pay the application fee as charged by the college.
  • Students who have applied for the respective institute will then be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT score and called for the subsequent admission rounds. This will generally consist of GD & PI round.
