XAT 2018

XLRI Jamshedpur, the conducting body of XAT 2018, has not announced any major changes in the paper pattern this year other than the mode of exam. The test which was conducted in the offline mode since its inception will now be held in a single session as a computer-based test on January 7, 2018. Rest of XAT Exam Pattern will be the same as last year. The difficulty level will most likely be on the higher side.

As per the trends of past years, here is what Xavier Aptitude Test 2018 will have in store for you:

  • Sectional time limit is not applicable for XAT 2018 but there are sectional cut offs.
  • For shortlisting for GD & PI round, the scores of only the 1st part (Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and Decision Making) will be used whereas the scores of both, 1st and 2nd part will be considered for final admission. Check XAT Selection Procedure
  • The total number of questions in XAT is never fixed and has fluctuated from year to year. XAT 2018 can have anywhere between 72- 84 questions.
  • Decision Making section is a unique feature of the exam which requires meticulous analysis. It mostly has ethical, management or human resource related dilemmas. The past trends have shown that it is quite a tricky section.
  • XAT scoring pattern is such that marks are deducted for every unattempted question (beyond 12 questions).
  • Quantitative Ability is usually on the easier side as compared to the other 2 sections. However, some data interpretation sets maybe time consuming.
