General Awareness Section: A major scorer for SNAP exam

    SNAP which is also called Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is going to take place on December 16, 2018. There are merely four months left for the most competitive management exam.     The registration process for SNAP has already been started from August 28 and will go on till November 26, 2018. SNAP is different from other popular management exams like CAT and IIFT and that is because of the huge amount of presence of General awareness section in SNAP exam.     There are basically four section in SNAP exam pattern, namely:

    1. Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency

    It has been believed that SNAP exam lays heavy emphasis on Quantitative and arithmetic questions. This section consists of Averages, Time and Distance, Ration and proportion, Alligations and mixtures, Mensuration, Percentages etc.Whereas the questions asked on Data sufficiency in SNAP exam are comparatively easy and are not as complex as asked in XAT or CAT exam.

    1. General English/Verbal Ability

    General English section is all about vocabulary questions, reading comprehension passages and grammar questions. Vocabulary, verbal reasoning and Grammar are the major sub sections to ponder on, while preparing for General English section.

    1. Analytical & Logical Reasoning

    Due to heavy marks allotted to the questions of Analytical and Logical reasoning, this section is considered most important one in SNAP exam as it helps you to clear SNAP cut-off. The section carries subjects like critical reasoning, deductive logic, logical reasoning sets, series, visual reasoning, blood relations, puzzles and analogies.

    General Awareness section is that one section which can ponder plenty of marks to the SNAP aspirants. The reason for this the vastness of SNAP general awareness syllabus. In this section, the questions asked are basically related to current affairs, Business GK, awards and prizes, sports event, and important events of the last year.

    Tips for attempting General Awareness Section

    1. Keep a hang of daily happenings to increase your aptitude for current affairs. Read newspapers and magazines to know about last year and current year knowledge. You should also watch political debates on news channels to build up your political knowledge.
    2. You can also buy different reading material provided in market, for instance Manorama yearbook for polishing your knowledge on current events,
    3. Considerable amount of knowledge is required to attempt General awareness section. You just can't beat the bush and answer randomly for this section. We recommend you to read daily nationals like The Hindu, Economic Times, Business Standard etc. which will help you to clear out the section smoothly.

    Tips for attempting Verbal Ability Section

    1. Verbal ability section is about testing your knowledge on General English and in order to increase your knowledge for the same, the candidate will have to read a lot. You can read the editorial pages of daily newspapers.
    2. Increase your vocab by learning new words, atleast 5 words each day which will enhance your verbal ability and will help you answering the questions of this section.
    3. If you are having a tough time discovering new words, you can consult different dictionaries like Oxford and Cambridge Learner’s dictionary, which will always help you not only for cracking SNAP exam but will help you with increasing your vocab for long term.

    Tips for attempting Quantitative Ability Section

    1. Start with practicing basic Maths by taking help for Class 9th and 10th textbook. Also, study material will help you a lot in increasing your Mathematical skills to clear SNAP entrance exam. Learn as many formulas as you can and try to experiment with your own shortcuts.
    2. In order to get hands on fast calculation and save time, candidate must solve puzzles, squares and cubes. Track the time, each time you solve the puzzle and improvise on time management.

    Tips for attempting Logical Reasoning Section

    1. SNAPaspirant can improve his/her reasoning ability by solving puzzles within a time limit. This will be help you in time management too. Practice solving puzzle, twice in a day. Remember the mantra, Practice makes a man perfect.
    2. Candidate must prepare Question bank for each section which will further help him/her in checking the knowledge and how much you have studied for the exam. After complete revision, candidate can attempt answering these questions to get a reality check.
