NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
The ICFAI foundation for higher education has successfully conducted the IBSAT management aptitude test from December 21 – 24, 2017. The exam was commenced in the online mode only. IBSAT 2017 results will be declared tentatively on January 2, 2018.
It is expected that with the overall difficulty level of IBSAT 2017 as medium, the cutoff this year will also be between 60 and 69 for the various IBS institutes.
The IBSAT scores are used for the admissions to the MBA and PhD courses at nine ICFAI Business Schools (IBS) at Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Dehradun, Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata and Pune. This article covers the analysis of the IBSAT 2017 question paper, answer key and IBSAT Expected Cutoff for various colleges.
Students were allotted 2 hours to attempt total 140 multiple-choice questions with five probable answers to each question. There were 30 minutes for each of the 4 sections.
Each correct answer was set for 1 mark, and there was no negative marking. Total 50 questions were covered from the Verbal Ability section, 30 from Reading Comprehension, 30 from Quantitative Ability and remaining 30 from Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency.
The overall difficulty level of the paper was medium. However, there were all types of questions in the paper with evenly distributed difficulty level as easy, medium and tough.
The section-wise paper analysis of the IBSAT 2017 paper is discussed below:
The Verbal Ability section contained total 50 marks. Total 10 of these questions were based on Synonyms/Antonyms, 5 on Word Relation, 10 on Error Spotting, 10 on Phrase Replacement/One Word Substitute, 10 on Fill in the blanks and the remaining 5 on Jumbled Sentences.
The overall difficulty level of the Verbal Ability section was easy. Some of the vocabulary questions were difficult but the grammar part was easier.
In the Reading Comprehension section, 3 passages contained 8 questions each, and the fourth passage contained 5 questions. All these passages were of around 500- 600 words.
Some of the questions related to these passages were direct and factual. However, few were a bit tricky and time-consuming.
The difficulty level of 10 of the questions in this section was easy, for 9 questions it was medium, and for the remaining 10, it was difficult.
In this section, 4 questions were from Number System, 4 were from Simplification and Algebra, 2 from Speed, Time and Distance, 2 from Profit, Loss and Discount, 3 from Permutation and Probability, 1 from Work and Time, 1 from Percentage, 7 from Geometry and Mensuration, 3 from Simple Interest and Partnership, 1 from Time and Work and 2 from Ratio.
The difficulty level of the questions from Quantitative Ability was moderate. This section actually was a good mixture of problems including arithmetic, geometry and analytical geometry.
The questions were framed on speed, distance and time, ratio proportion, work problems, heights, progressions, probability and percentages. The difficulty level of 7 questions was easy, that of 17 it was medium, and for remaining 6, it was difficult.
In this section, 15 questions were from Data Sufficiency, 5 were from DI (Pie), 5 from DI (Line + Table), and the remaining 5 from DI (Line). Most of the question in the paper had questions on pi graphs and line graphs.
Few other questions were on percentage change and ratio between two values. The difficulty level of 8 questions was easy, that of 17, it was medium, and for the remaining 5, it was tough.
The results for the IBSAT 2017 exam will be declared on January 2, 2018. Candidates who appeared in the IBSAT 2017 entrance exam are informed that the official IBSAT answer key is available at the official website - ibsindia.org
The IBSAT 2017 answer key contains the correct answers to all the questions. When the result of IBSAT will be declared later, you can use this answer key to match the answers you attempted in the exam with the correct answers provided in the key.
IBSAT cutoff varies every year. Each participating institution releases their separate cutoff for MBA courses. IBSAT cutoff 2017 will be the minimum mark that you will require to get selected for further rounds of the admission process.
