NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, IIFT is the one of the top most B-Schools of the nation. The conducts an IIFT Entrance Exam for the candidates who seek to get admission in MBA(International Business) Programme of 2 years. It is a national level exam which is held every year and more than thousands of candidates apply and sit for the exam. Through this exam the candidates can get admission in the IIFT campuses that are in Delhi and Kolkata.

The last date of IIFT Registration for both online and offline mode was September 5, 2016. After being an IIFT Registered candidate, you should now gear up for the IIFT exam. The IIFT written exam will be held on November 27, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12 noon at various IIFT Exam centers.

As an IIFT aspiring candidate you should make sure that you are mentally prepared for what comes next in terms of preparing for the IIFT Entrance Exam. It is an exam which will analyze every single aspect of yours be it from your mental ability to your communication skills. Hence, it is necessary for you to have a good mental aptitude to answer the questions asked in the WI with a personality to wow anybody while sitting in a GD or PI. These are the sections that are covered under to get admission in the IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata campuses.
IIFT exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and are objective in nature. The duration of the exam is two hours and it comprises of English Comprehension (Essay Writing), General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis. The exam will have around 124 questions that will be divided into 4 parts. Mentioned below are the parts under which the questions will be categorized:

IIFT is an exam which is taken by those candidates who wish to get admission in the IIFT institutes that accepts the IIFT Scores. It has been noticed that IIFT keeps on changing its entrance exam pattern. This section is considered to be one of the most time consuming and a tricky one. For clearing and solving the questions from this section, you should make sure that you are quick with calculations as well as have proper knowledge on how to implement calculation shortcuts. You can always make your calculating skills better by practicing mathematics on regular basis without taking help of any electronic device.
This section is also considered to be quite scoring as well as interesting. Also, if you get a grip on this section, this section for you can be one of the most scoring one. As per the analysis, it has been noticed that the number of questions can be somewhere between 25 to 28. We suggest to crack this section, you should prepare topics that fall in the same lines as in CAT Exam (Probability, Integers, Time, distance, speed, Time & work, percentage, Algebra, Mensuration, Log theory, Geometry, PnC among others).

In the Analytical and Logical Reasoning Section, the expected number of questions are around 20. The questions are usually based on the blood relations, seating arrangements, series, analogy etc. IIFT covers almost all the topics in logical reasoning with 1 or 2 questions on each. Statements, arguments, conclusions are a few favourite topics which require more in depth study. This section again is one of the interesting ones. It requires a lot of patience and focused mind.

In the Data Interpretation Section, around 20 questions are expected. IIFT asks 19-21 DI questions in different data forms like tables and bar diagrams. The information part is followed by 4-5 questions so it’s worth trying with patience. A little more practice on the lines of CAT 2016 can be of great help in this section.

If you as a candidate having a good command over the English Language will not find answering questions from this section too difficult. Around 36 questions are expected from this section. You should make sure to practice as much English as you can. You can buy a lot of IIFT study material for the same. This section requires a lot of brain storming when it comes to Essay Writing. You should use a proper format while writing any passage.
Also, the Reading comprehensions are expected to be around 4-5 passages.

This section can expect around 28-30 questions to test the General Awareness of yours in IIFT 2016 entrance exam. This section is again one of the trickiest and unpredictable of all the sections. The questions can cover conventional as well as current national and international affairs and relevant economic, business topics apart from major policy decisions. Questions can also be based to test your awareness about the birthday of famous personalities; the work they do; Constitution of India; fictional characters.

The basic purpose of the questions from this section is to test and analyze the General knowledge that you possess. It is important for you to keep regular track of what all is going around the world. This can be accomplished if you regularly read newspapers, magazines and you can also read it on social media as well, if you are not a print media fan.
In this section, it is fine if you attempt sufficient questions to clear the cut-off. Even if you answer 14 to 15 questions and get 11 correct that will be enough for you.
Another point, with respect to General awareness in IIFT exam, is that the exam has a lot of matching the column kind of questions. This, in a way, is a plus point for you because each answer option has multiple combinations given. So, even if you don’t know the answer to all 4 combinations, there is always the possibility of knowing 1 or 2 of the combinations and getting the answer using elimination.
As an aspirant you should know that there will be a system of negative marking as well. Penalty of one third mark will be deducted for every wrong answer marked by the student. For the exam, you should have a proper schedule planned and you need to follow it religiously. You should be studying in a focused and in a systematic way. You should keep your calm and not rush into things, this will only lead you to stress more about the exam and you will end up wasting your precious time.
