STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
TANCET 2017 for ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan degree program was successfully conducted on March 26, 2017. TANCET is organized by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of Tamil Nadu state government. It is an entrance exam for taking admissions to pursue a Master's Degree in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Candidates who appeared for the exam are now eagerly waiting for the TANCET 2017 Answer Key to evaluate their performance, which will be soon available. The examination keeps its candidates on their toes as each year there is a surprise in the exam question pattern. So let us be familiar with what the exam had in store this year. TANCET is a pen and paper based test of 2 hours to answer 100 questions for 100 marks. The exam conducted on March 26, 2017, for M.Tech/ M.E/ M.Arch/ M.Plan was divided into 3 sections:
Part 1: Engineering Mathematics: 30 Questions
Part 2: Basic Engineering and Sciences: 30 Questions
Part 3: Based on the Elective Subject chosen at the time of registration: 40 to 45 questions.
Based on all the information by expert and candidates, We have prepared a section-wise analysis of TANCET 2017 question paper for M.E/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan.
Section one consisted of 30 questions, amounting to a total of 30 marks in the examination. Engineering Mathematics is a common section for all to attempt, and in this year, the noticeable weight age was on the following topics:
The difficulty level of the section one was easy to moderate. Numerical methods & vector calculus were comparatively difficult than the other major topics in the section 1.
The Section two consists of 30 questions as well, totaling to 30 marks as well. Just like the Section one, even engineering sciences is also a common section for all to attempt. Engineering sciences syllabus was vast, but it wasn't necessary to focus on all. We have prepared a table which shows topic’s and chapter’s which were an integral part of the examination this year.

Section three of the exam is different for everyone, depending on the elective subject they chose at the time of registration. TANCET authorities do love to surprise its test takers, and that is why the questions in this section can range from 40-45 for a total of 40 marks. Thought this year there were 40 questions, and among those 40 questions the topics which were the most scoring were:
Mechanical Automobile & Aeronautical Engineering
Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Instrumentation Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering
The difficulty level of the section three was moderate to difficult. Where Civil Engineering and other Topics like Mechanical engineering were difficult. The rest of the questions in the section III were moderate but scoring.
The Answer Key 2017 will provide the candidates with all the correct answers for their respective TANCET question paper sets. It is important for every candidate to have a look at the answer key to evaluate their performance and calculate and estimate of your TANCET score. The answer key helps every aspirant in planning and deciding what colleges to apply in before the official results are out.
The cutoff marks for the TANCET 2017 will soon be released after the official announcement of the TANCET 2017 Result. Cutoff will be based on the number of applied applicants, the available vacant seats, previous year cut off, the difficulty level of the examination paper and other criteria. Candidates who qualify TANCET 2017 Cut Off Marks will be eligible for the TANCET 2017 Counselling. The release date of result & process to download the TANCET 2017 Score Card will be updated soon on the official Anna University web portal.
