    IIT Kanpur Seat Matrix for JEE Advanced- Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is one of the premier institutions established by the Government of India. It offers various courses in Bachelors of Technology for the duration of 4 years. Students aspiring to get admission into IIT Kanpur must qualify both JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The admission process will be followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling for the qualified candidates.  

    • Getting admission into IIT Kanpur is a two-step process- Initially one needs to qualify JEE Main and then take JEE Advanced. Admissions are based on the JEE Advanced rank.
    • Candidates have to apply for JoSAA Counselling which begins from June 15, 2017.
    • The first allocation round is scheduled for June 28, 2017.

    • In the institute, there are 406 seats reserved for Open, 13 seats reserved for Open- PwD, 119 for SC, 4 for SC-PwD, 62 for ST, 1 for ST-PwD, 216 for OBC-NCL and 6 for OBC-NCL PwD.
    • Seat allocation procedure will be conducted by JoSAA for the academic programs offered by 92 JEE Main Participating Institutes including IITs, NITs, ISM, IIITs and other GFTIs for the academic year 2017-18.

    JEE Advanced Counselling

    • Counselling for the qualifying candidates of JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be conducted by Joint Seat Authority.
    • Academic programs offered by 23 Participating IITs for the academic year 2017-18 for which JoSAA will conduct seat allocation procedure. This will be for the academic year 2017-18.
    • The counselling for JEE Advanced will begin from June 15, 2017 and the registration for the same will be done from June 15, 2017 to June 26, 2017.
    • Only the candidates who have passed JEE Advanced result will be able to participate in the counselling process.
    • Candidates will then have to report personally to their allotted centers with original copies as well as the photocopies of the documents required.
    • If the candidate is unable to report, then it will lead to the cancellation of admission. In this case, the counselling fee will be refunded.
    • In the JoSAA Counselling, there will be registration, filling and locking of choices, allotment of seats, reporting to the allotted college and getting provisional admission in these colleges.
    • This year, JoSAA Counselling will be conducted in 7 rounds. The number of rounds may vary though, depending on availability and allocation of seats.
    • First round will commence on June 28, 2017 and will include seat allocation announcement, followed by 1st round seat acceptance at reporting centers.
    • Candidates may withdraw the seat allocated to them if they are allotted a better institute in the next rounds of counselling.

    Documents Required for Provisional Admission

    Students need to submit original documents along with one attested photocopy during verification for taking provisional admission.

    • Original Copy of JEE Advanced 2017 Admit Card
    • JEE Advanced 2017 Seat Allotment Letter from JoSAA website
    • JEE Advanced Application Form (duly filled)
    • Duly filled medical examination report
    • Birth Proof — Class Xth /HSC/Birth Certificate/Any other certificate as proof of data of birth
    • Class 12th or Equivalent Examination Mark sheet and Passing Certificate
    • Category Certificate (OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD/DS) issued by competent authority as per the format in the JEE Advanced 2017 Brochure
    • Criterion for Foreign National students — Attested photocopy of the page in the passport comprising the name, photo and nationality.
    • DD towards the registration fee. It would be later adjusted towards the tuition fee, to be paid at the time of admission.
