Last Updated - June 11, 2018

JEE (Joint Entrance examination) is the national level examination for admission to UG engineering programs. JEE Advanced is the second stage of Joint Entrance Examination, conducted specifically for admission to IITs and ISM Dhanbad. IITs offer admission in B. Tech., B.S., B. Pharm., B. Arch., Dual Degree B. Tech.–M. Tech., Dual Degree B.S.-M.S., etc. through JEE Advanced.

However, most IITs also offer preparatory courses for candidates from SC/ST/PwD Candidates. These preparatory courses are basically bridge courses which are meant to prepare underprivileged candidates to perform better in the UG programs.

Preparatory Courses for SC/ST/PwD Candidates

IITs and ISM provide preparatory courses for a duration of 1 year to SC, ST and PwD Candidates. These courses are aimed to prepare candidates to successfully pursue academic programs (B. Tech. and Dual Degree Program). In this program, candidates are required to undertake courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English for 2 semesters.

All the participants have to successfully complete the course. At the end of the preparatory course, the candidates are declared “Pass” or “Fail”, based on their performance in the courses. The candidates who are selected for JEE Advanced preparatory courses are eligible for all concessions as the regular students in B. Tech. and Dual Degree Program during the period of coaching.

Admission is given to the candidates in the Preparatory course for the year 2019 provided:

  • The seats reserved for the respective category are vacant.
  • Candidates have not accepted a seat in the preparatory course earlier.

On the successful completion of the preparatory course, the candidates will be offered direct admission in July-2019 (Academic Year 2019-20) to their allotted UG program. Candidates admitted to the Preparatory course can also participate in JEE Advanced 2019, provided they fulfill other eligibility criteria.
