NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
MICAT 2019 is a university level entrance examination conducted by Mudra Institute of Communication (MICA), Ahmedabad. It offers admission to courses in Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Communications (PGDMC). MICAT is conducted twice in a year as MICAT-I and MICAT-II. Candidates will have to take at least one of the three eligibility exams: CAT, XAT and GMAT to appear in MICAT.
Nearly 8000 students register each year to compete against a total of 180 seats. Check below all important highlights of MICAT 2019 exam.

For admission in MICAT, candidates need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
MICAT 2019 Application Form can be filled and submitted through online mode only at the official website. The registration for paper-1 shall take place from September 2018 till November 2018 while that for paper-2 will be held from 1st week of January till first week of February 2019.
Candidates will first need to register themselves on the official website in order to proceed for filling in the application form. Follow these steps to fill MICAT Application Form.
Admit cards for MICAT 2019 will be issued to the candidates in 2nd week of December 2018 for MICAT-I and in 2nd week of February 2019 for MICAT-II. Admits cards will be issued against successful online registration at the official website.
Selected candidates will be required to download their admit cards from the official website. MICAT Admit Card is a mandatory document to be carried at the exam center along with a photo identity proof. Follow these steps to download MICAT Admit Card.
MICAT 2019 will be conducted across 39 centers in India.
MICAT will be held twice a year following a particular admission cycle. The candidates will be tested on Psychometric, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness, Divergent-Convergent Reasoning and Descriptive Test. Check below the highlights of MICAT 2019 Exam Pattern

MICAT 2019 exam will comprise 2 papers to be completed in 125 minutes (Paper-1: 35 minutes and Paper-2: 90 minutes). MICAT-I consists of descriptive type questions while MICAT –II comprises objective questions. Distribution of questions in both he papers has been tabulated below.

As per MICAT Marking Scheme, there is no negative marking for Paper-1 while any wrong answer in Paper-2 attracts a penalty of 0.25 marks.
MICAT Result will be announced online on the official website. The result for MICAT-I will be released in the first week of January 2019 and for MICAT-II in the last week of February 2019. Candidates can check their scores on the website by using their login credentials.

MICA does not declare an official cut off for PGDMC. Final selection of the candidates depends on the composite score based on 50% of CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT score. MICAT Cut Off 2018 might range from 59-61. The expected MICAT Cut Off 2019 is given below:

Once MICAT 2019 Result is declared, selected candidates will be invited for GE/PI at various MICA campuses. The list for the same will be prepared on the basis of MICAT-1and /or 2 or better of the two scores if a candidate has taken both MICAT I and MICAT II. Approximately 1/10th of the total number of candidates who appear in the two MICATs will be shortlisted for GE/PI based on the total MICAT scaled score.
MICAT scorecards and GE/PI call letter can be downloaded by logging from the official website. Short listed candidates will be called for GE and PI at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
The list of shortlisted candidates for Group Exercise and Personal Interview will be declared in last week of February 2019. Final results based on the candidate's MICAT total score and GE/PI performance will be declared in the Last week of March 2019. The final merit list of candidates selected for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Communications (PGDMC) in MICA will be prepared based on the candidates score in
a) CAT 2018/XAT 2019/GMAT 2017 (onwards)
b) MICAT-I and MICAT-II scores
c) Performance in GE/PI.
Ques. Can I appear for both MICAT-I and MICAT-II?
Ans. Yes. One can appear in both MICATs. The best of two exams score will be considered.
Ques. Is there separate application form for MICAT-I and MICAT-II?
Ans. Yes. Candidates need to fill in separate application form for both exams.
Ques. Can I register for MICAT-2 later if I am not appearing for MICAT-1?
Ans. Yes you can register later for MICAT-II. You can give both or either of them. Shortlisting of GE/PI candidates will be done on the basis of MICAT-1and /or 2 or better of the two scores if a candidate has taken both MICAT-1 and MICAT-2.
Ques. What is the mode of examination for MICAT?
Ans. MICAT is a computer based exam and conducted online only.
Ques. What are the CAT and MICAT cut offs for MICA?
Ans. According to some reports, CAT cut-off used to be 90 percentile till 2009 but the new rules don't talk about any cut-off. One is just required to appear for CAT before MICAT.
To get a general idea, there are 160 seats in MICA for which around 800 are invited for GE/PI. 6000-8000 candidates appear for MICAT every year which means that a candidate needs to be in the top 10% to get a call. That roughly translates to 90 percentile.
Ques. What is the weightage given to CAT/XAT/GMAt scores, MICAT scores and GE/PI scores for final selection to MICA?
Ans. MICA considers only 2% of the CAT and XAT score. 50% weightage is given to MICAT scores while 8% weightage is given to performance in Group Exercise (GE) and 30% weightage is given Personal Interview (PI).
