Central University of Karnataka Admission through CUCET 2017

    Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is a national level entrance exam conducted by central universities of 10 states for admissions into UG, PG, and integrated courses offered by these universities in various disciplines. Central University of Karnataka is one of the participating institutes of CUCET. The university was established as one of the 16 new central universities. The university offers courses in 8 different departments ranging from Business Studies to engineering programmes.

    Every year CUCET is held in the month of May-June by the participating universities on a rotational basis. This year Central University of Rajasthan is conducting CUCET 2017 which is scheduled for May 17-18, 2017.

    The exam comprises two parts viz. Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 25 questions from areas like logical and verbal reasoning, General Awareness, and Mathematical skills. Part B will comprise 75 questions and would test the knowledge of candidates in the core subject for which the candidate has made admission application. Overall there are 100 MCQ questions of (Part A plus Part B) equal marks. One mark is deducted for each wrong answer whereas no negative marking is applicable for un-attempted questions. The total time allotted for the test is 2 hours.

    A merit list is prepared based on the performance of candidates in CUCET 2017 exam. Admissions to various colleges and programs in the CUCET 2017 participating universities would be done on the basis of this merit list and the cut-off criteria set by participating universities.

    CUCET 2017 Admission criteria

    Admissions through CUCET 2017 would be done based on the performance of the candidate in CUCET 2017 and his/her relative rank in the merit list. Apart from this candidates would also be required to satisfy the cut-off standards set by the 10 participating universities for different courses.

    CUCET 2017 Application form

    Candidates can apply for CUCET 2017 both through online and offline channels. Following steps are required to be followed in order to make successful application for CUCET 2017. 

    • Go to official website of CUCET 2017 –
    • Click on “CUCET 2017 application”.
    • Fill in the details to complete the registration process.
    • After successfully completing the registration process a user ID and would be generated.
    • Candidates are required to use this user ID and password (set at the time of registration) to log in to the portal and fill in the details required in application form.
    • Fill the necessary details carefully and mention the course for which you are seeking admissions.
    • Upload signature and photograph (as per the size and dimensions mentioned in the notification).
    • Edit the application if there is any mistake that you have noticed in the preview option (before submit).
    • Make payment either through online mode or challan (offline mode).
    • Check the payment status.
    • After successfully making the payment candidates would be able to see a confirmation message on the screen. The same would be notified through a mail on your registered e-mail ID.

    CUCET 2017 Results

    The results for CUCET 2017 would be announced by the conducting authority on its official website. As per now the stipulated date for the announcement of CUCET 2017 results June 7, 2017. In case there is any change in the date of announcement of results then it would be notified to the candidates through an official notification. Candidates are thus advised to visit the CUCET 2017 website on regular basis after the exam.

    CUCET 2017 Counselling Process

    Counselling and choice locking process for admissions through CUCET 2017 would begin once the results are declared and the final merit list is prepared. The seat allotment through counselling would be based on the candidate’s performance in the merit list as well as the choice marked by them during the choice locking process. The counseling process would be conducted by the participating universities on individual level and no centralized allocation would take place. The number of rounds of counseling would vary from college to college and would depend upon following factors.

    • Availability of seats under each program
    • Number of applications received
    • Cut-off for that year
