NEST 2019 Application Form

NEST Application Form 2019 will be available from January 2019 in the online mode only. Candidates can fill the form at the official website of NEST. The last date of form submission is March 2019. All aspirants must visit the official website of NEST 2019 to register themselves followed by filling the application form. A candidate must have a valid e-mail id for registering for the exam.

Applicants are advised to go through the available brochure and read it carefully before filling up the application form. Application fee of INR 1000 for General and OBC candidates while INR 500 for reserved candidates must also be filled. After successfully filling up NEST Application Form, candidates can download their NEST 2019 Admit Card in the second week of April 2019.

National Entrance Screening Test 2019 or NEST 2019 is a mandatory exam for getting admission to the 5-year Integrated MSc programme in basic sciences. On the basis of NEST score, candidates are granted admission at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai.

NEST Exam 2019 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must fulfil the below-mentioned eligibility requirements to appear for NEST 2019 Examination.

  • Candidate should be from science stream
  • He/she should have studied any combination of Biology/Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics in class 12
  • Minimum 60% aggregate marks in class 12th is required for General and OBC category candidates
  • For scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST) and physical disabilities (PD) category candidates, there is a relaxation of 5%.
  • Those who have passed class XII examination or equivalent from any recognized Board in India in 2017 or 2018 or are appearing in 2019 are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

  • General and OBC category candidates should be born on or after August 01, 1998
  • For SC / ST / PD candidates the age limit is relaxed by 5 years as on after August 01, 1993

How to Fill NEST 2019 Application Form?

NEST 2019 Application process comprises 4 steps: Registration, Filling online application form, Uploading documents and Payment of application fees. However, candidates must make sure that they consider the below-mentioned important points before they fill the application form.  

  • A candidate can login to his/her NEST 2019 Application profile as many times as he/she wants y using same login details. However if the form is submitted once, no change can be made afterwards.
  • In case a candidate forgets the password to login, he/she should click on the ‘Forget Password’ link on the registration page and follow the directions.
  • For safety purposes, a candidate can retrieve the password only twice.

Step-1 Registration

  • Visit the official website of NEST, i.e. www.nestexam.in
  • Click on ‘Apply Online’
  • Write applicant’s name in the given space
  • Provide a valid e-mail id
  • Create a password of and remember the same for future reference
  • Candidate will receive a message containing a link to confirm the registration on the registered mail id
  • Candidate needs to click on the provided link to confirm the registration

Step 2- Filling online application form

  • Login using your credentials.
  • Fill personal details of the candidate such as choice of exam centers and academic details are asked for.
  • Candidates also have to fill the details of their qualifying examinations detail.
  • If the aggregate is given in CGPA form instead of percentage than a candidate is required to calculate the equivalent percentage as per the guidelines of respective board and mention the same.

After filling up all the details carefully and after rechecking all the entries again, candidate has to save and proceed to the next step. One must take care that information once submitted cannot be changes under any circumstance. So it is advised to fill the application form carefully.

Step 3: Uploading scanned documents

In the next step, after successfully saving and submitting the personal and academic information in online filled NEST 2019 Application Form, a candidate is asked to upload his/her scanned photograph and signature. To upload the pictures one must follow these instructions:

  • The photograph and signature should be in a JPG format
  • Candidate must first scan the passport size photograph and his/her signature and save in .jpeg format
  • Size of the image should be less than 100 KB each
  • There should be no white space around the photo or signature

Step 4: Payment of Application Fees

NEST 2019 Application Fees can be paid through two modes i.e. online mode and offline mode. Candidate can choose any one of these modes to make the payment of NEST 2019 Application Fees.

  • Online Mode: By opting online mode of payment a candidate can pay the fees by using Credit card/Debit card/Net banking. Online payment is possible through Tech Process/SBI e-Pay payments gateways. SBI-e-Pay payment gateway provides maximum of 3 chances for each application number to retry payment against failed transactions. However, there is no such limit for Tech Process payment gateway. The amount debited for failed transactions is refunded automatically within 7 days. Payment status is updated only if the transaction is successful
  • Offline Mode: Payment through offline mode is done through DD drawn in favour of NISER-NEST, payable at Bhubaneswar. The draft, along with the summary page generated after submission of Application Form should reach NEST office on or before March 15, 2019. Candidate must write his/her name and application no. on the back of the Demand Draft.

NEST Exam 2019 Application Fees

The NEST Exam application fees varies as per the candidate’s category as mentioned in the table below:-

Note: DT/VJ/NT candidates are advised to pay fees applicable for OBC category. Candidate can login to his/her application account and track updates on the application/payment after about two weeks for DD and 3 days for online payment.

After fee payment, a single page preview of NEST 2019 Application Form is generated. The page contains all the information filled by the candidate. Verify the details provided. In case of any changes in filled-in application, then the candidate can re-login and make the necessary changes.

NEST Application Form once submitted cannot be changed in any case. A summary page is generated after submitting the form. Preserve it as it is also to be sent along with DD for the payment of fees, in case the candidate have selected the offline mode to make the payment of NEST 2019 Application Fees.

All the details mentioned above are mandatory without which the student will not be able to submit the application form. Apart from this, they are required to scan all the education related documents along with the passport size photograph and signature and upload it there.


NEST 2019 Application Form Correction

  • Students appearing for NEST 2019examination must fill the application form correctly in one go.
  • If any information filled by the student is found incorrect or invalid, it would be considered as serious offence by the exam organizing authority and they have all the rights to null and void that submitted application form.
  • The reason students must fill all the correct details is that there is no correction facility provided by the conducting authority for application form.
  • If there is any update regarding the correction with application form, it would be announced officially by NEST on its official website.
