STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
As the result of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2016 (NEET 2016) Medical Results has been announced, the Telangana Private Medical colleges' association (TPMCA) has found itself in a confusion. The association has to decide if they should go ahead and follow NEET 2 admission calender or if they should wait for an uncertain EAMCET-III calender.

The reason for the confusion is due to the EAMCET-2 exam paper leak. The official exam paper for the NEET 2016 was illegally obtained by almost 34 brokers weeks before the exam. And as many as 200 parents were in contact with the broker to buy the exam paper. Hence, the association has now fixed another date for EAMCET-3, 2016. Now, the exam will be held on September 11, 2016 and the details for the same are yet to be announced.
The NEET 2016 Phase 1 exam was held on May 1, 2016 and the candidates were allowed to sit for the NEET 2016 Phase 2 exam only if they would give up their score from Phase 1 exam. NEET 2016 is an entrance exam which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Exam (CBSE) for the candidates seeking admission in various MBBS/BDS Courses in MedicalColleges/Dental Colleges. It is a national level offline (pen & paper) based exam in a Multiple Choice Question type.
Now due to the illegal act, the association is confused about what should be the next step for the aspiring candidates. As per the Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association (TJUDA) they want to wait till the EAMCET-3 results are out whereas the association feels it must go ahead with the NEET 2016 Counselling Process as per the NEET-2, 2016 calender to fill its share of 35% management seats (which comes to around 700 MBBS seats).

The NEET 2016 Admission Process for Round 1 is scheduled to be held on September 3 to September 5, 2016 for Private Management Quota seats. And for the 15 per cent all India central pool seats, the admission process starts from 22 August. "Since Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states are exempted from giving medical seats to the 15 per cent all India central pool, we want to go ahead with the September 3-5 admission calender fixed for state quota admission including private management seats," said C Laxmi Narsimha Rao, convenor TPMCA.
While adding that there will be a meeting held for all the private medical colleges to write down an action plan on how to take up admissions for their management quota medical seats, Narsimha Rao said that they cannot afford to wait till EAMCET-3 results are out.
"The admission process for EAMCET-3 will drag on for more than a month, which will cause disturbance in the academic schedule of the entire first year MBBS batch if we postpone admissions for private management quota students. Every year, first year MBBS students are required to appear in final year theory exams in the month of July and practical exams in the month of August, but there is no time left now," added Narsimha Rao.
However, TJUDA state president Dr. G Srinivas said that if the management quota MBBS students are allowed to join private medical colleges earlier than convenor quota medicos joining through EAMCET-3, the latter will suffer. "It is better if admission process for both management quota and convenor quota are conducted simultaneously, but even if the private medical colleges take up admission process to fill their management quota seats first, the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) must start the academic session for 2016-17 first year MBBS batch at the same time," he said.

When communicated, KNRUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr. B Karunakar Reddy said that the varsity authorities have no objection if the TPMCA wants to go ahead with admission process to fill management quota seats in respective private colleges. "Our concern is only convenor quota seats, but since the admission process for EAMCET-3 will get prolonged, we are planning to approach the Supreme Court with a request for extra time to complete the first year MBBS admissions," he said.
