NEET 2019 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
CBSE released the official notification for NEET 2019 on February 8 at cbseneet.nic.in. The coordinating body has made several changes in the eligibility criteria making Aadhaar Card NOT mandatory to apply for NEET.
Supreme Court directed the CBSE not to make Aadhaar number mandatory for enrolment of students appearing in NEET 2019 and other all-India exams. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra directed the CBSE to upload the information on their website.
Earlier in the day, UIDAI had told the apex court that it has not authorised CBSE to mandatorily take the Aadhaar number of students to get themselves enrolled for appearing in NEET 2019 examination.
While filling in the application form, one must enter their 12-digit UID number. Earlier, the verification and attendance were made individually and manually by matching faces with NEET admit card. Now, the entire process will be automated through a biometric attendance system. During the exam, fingerprints of the candidates can be collected and matched with the one stored with the Aadhaar server.
Officials welcome the change and opportunity to make the exams tech-savvy. “It takes just a few minutes to verify whether he or she is the right candidate or not. It’s easy and safe,” said an official.
Another parallel being drawn is the organizing authority. Like JEE-Main, both NEET and NET are being conducted by CBSE and replicating the success should not be a problem. Candidates who are still without their Aadhaar card need not fret. The card can be applied for before filling out the forms for examination, in such case the 28-digit Aadhaar registration receipt will be used for validation.
To make the entire process of NEET 2019 smooth, CBSE has made the document mandatory for registration and verification purposes. In a recent notification published at cbseneet.nic.in, the conducting body listed points following the news of making Aadhar Card mandatory.
CBSE has made provisions for all types of medical aspirants in case of Aadhaar card. They are as follows:
