Government Medical College (GMC), Omandarur is the first government medical college in Chennai. The college is offering undergraduate and diploma in medical field under the affiliation of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. The college enrolls 100 students every year to MBBS course. The course structure for MBBS is as per the guidelines of MCI and admissions are only made on the successful clearance of NEET 2017.

Government Medical College Omandarur Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian Citizen or Overseas Citizen of India.
  • Age Limit: Candidate must be of minimum 17 years of age at the time of admission on or before December 31, 2017. The upper age limit for admission seekers under All India Quota is 25 years relaxable for a period of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
  • Essential Academic Qualification: Candidates passing the HSC or ISCE examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects with English as a core subject securing a minimum of 50%. For reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) candidates, there is a relaxation of 10%. Physically handicapped candidates have to secure a minimum of 45%. Aspirants who have appeared in 10+2 examination in 2017 may also appear provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later on.

If two or more candidates have equal score in NEET 2017, preference will be given to

  • Candidate having higher marks in Biology in NEET 2017.
  • Candidate having higher marks in Chemistry in NEET 2017.
  • Candidate older in age.
