Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram Cut Off for NEET 2017

Government Medical College (GMC), Thiruvananthapuram is an academic institute for medical education under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala. It is the first medical college in Kerala and is among the top 20 medical colleges in the country. The college admits candidates to the undergraduate medical course, MBBS through NEET conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

Inspiring students who wish to take admission to this college in this academic session have to appear in NEET 2017. In 2016, NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) has replaced all state and national level exams so qualifying NEET exam is purely the only way to get a seat in this college. This year the exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 07, 2017.

How to Get Admission in Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram?

Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1951 with an annual admission of 60 students which later on got increased to 200 in 1983. Trivandrum Medical College is affiliated to the University of Kerala. The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and various courses related to medical field.

Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram Admission Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian Citizen or Overseas Citizen of India.
  • Age Limit: Candidate must be of minimum 17 years of age at the time of admission on or before December 31, 2017. Candidates under All India Quota can apply maximum up to the age of 25 years. SC/ST/OBC candidates are offered a relaxation for a period of 5 years.
  • Essential Academic Qualification: Candidates passing the Higher Secondary examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects securing a minimum of 50% are eligible. For reserved category (SC/ST/OBC), there is a relaxation of 10%. Physically handicapped candidates have to secure a minimum of 45%. Aspirants who are appearing in 10+2 examination in 2017 may also appear provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later on.

In case of a tie of scores between two or more candidates, preference will be given to

  • Candidate having higher marks in Biology in NEET 2017.
  • Candidate having higher marks in Chemistry in NEET 2017.
  • Candidate older in age.

The college is recognized to enroll 200 students for MBBS course annually subject to the fulfillment of this eligibility criteria. The students satisfying the admission criteria and qualifying the NEET 2017 cut off have to report the college with the following documents.
