The declaration of NEET 2019 result on June 5, 2019 was a proud moment for Bansal family as their younger son topped the charts with AIR 2. Yes, we are talking about Bhavik Bansal the all India 2nd rank holder in the coveted NEET exam this year. The Delhi boy has scored 700 marks out of 720 in NEET 2019. To add on to that Bhavik has topped the AIIMS 2019 in the country with a perfect 100 percentile score. Bhavik has also cleared the JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 with a good rank.

Was this Bhavik’s first attempt at NEET?
Bhavik says that he started preparing for NEET right from the time he stepped into class XI. After two years of dedicated preparation, this was his first attempt at NEET.
What made Bhavik go for NEET 2019?
Bhavik shares that his parents never forced him to opt for a particular stream or for taking any exam. It was his willingness and interest that drove him towards the domain of medicine and hence he started preparing for NEET 2019.
What was Bhavik’s preparation strategy for NEET 2019?
For the NEET preparation, he says that NCERTs should be considered as the bible by aspirants. One must be thorough with class XI and XII NCERT for all the three major subjects i,e, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. He said that he revised the notes three to four times and solved the previous year’s NEET papers. He also took full length mock tests.
Coaching Vs Self Study, which helped him more?
Bhavik took coaching at Aakash Institute in Preet Vihar, Delhi. However; he feels that taking coaching is not essential for success in NEET. He considers coaching institute as a guiding light and says that there is no substitute for self-study to succeed in the exam. He believes that one can easily clear the exam scoring good marks without going to any coaching institute with the help of dedicated self-study.
What was the role of Mock Tests and Previous Years Question Papers in his success?
He says that Mock Tests and Previous year papers are a good test of one’s preparation.To prepare for the big battle one must work hard. Solving previous year questions and taking mocks is an essential part of the process.
What topics should one prioritize while preparing for the exam?
On asking about priorities in terms of topics, Bhavik suggests that one should go as per his/her strengths and weaknesses. The topics or subjects, one feels are tougher should be picked up first and then the ones that are relatively easy. He says that he found some topics of Physics challenging and thus he put more effort to get through the understanding of it.
What was one of the most difficult aspects of NEET Preparation for him?
As per Bhavik, balancing Class XII board preparation, coaching hours and self-study was a majorly difficult task. However, with smart time management one can get through this issue.
Any particular strategy that he followed while attempting the NEET 2019 Paper?
Bhavik shares that the strategy was clear cut in his mind even before taking the paper. He says that he planned to attempt the Biology portion of the paper first followed by the Chemistry and Physics, respectively. While choosing the paper attempting strategy, he placed the subjects that were his strength first.
