NEET Mandatory for Admission in Undergraduate Veterinary Courses

    NEET 2019 is a national level entrance examination conducted by NTA to shortlist suitable students for admission in medical courses offered by medical colleges in India. NEET 2019 is scheduled for May 5, 2019.

    As per the official notification dated February 22, 2018 released by The Veterinary Council of India, candidates seeking admission in B.V.Sc & AH courses through 15% All India Quota seats will have to compulsorily appear for NEET 2019.

    Admissions to these 15% seats in UG course in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry for 2019-20 session at recognized veterinary colleges will be on the basis of NEET 2019 merit list issued by NTA. These 15% seats will be filled through counseling conducted by Veterinary Council of India (VCI).

    The results and All India ranks are handed over to Directorate General Health services (DGHS) for counseliing and allotment of All India Quota seats (15%). Now, the entrance test will be mandatory for admission to B.V.Sc & AH. Other admissions criteria will remain same as per the “Veterinary Council of India- Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (B.V.Sc & AH) Regulations, 2016”. Read about NEET 2019 Counselling

    The notification stated: “All those students desirous to take admission to B.V.Sc & AH Degree Course under 15% seats on All India Basis are hereby advised to appear in NEET (UG) 2018 to be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 06, 2018.” 

    NEET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

    The necessary eligibility requirements for NEET 2019 include:


    The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year in which the admission is being sought.


    • He/ She must have passed Higher Secondary Examination or Indian School Certificate Examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects and studied English at a level not less than core course of English as prescribed by NCERT.
    • In case, candidates have completed the course not prescribed as 10+2, they will have to undergo a one year pre professional training before seeking admission to the veterinary course.
    • Candidates having passed B.Sc with not less than any of the two subjects among Physics, Chemistry and Biology are also eligible to apply. Such candidates must have passed pervious examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects.

    How to apply for NEET 2019?

    The application process of NEET 2019 can be done online only by following the mentioned procedure:

    • Visit the portal of NEET UG.
    • Select Candidates Login link under the Online Services at the home page.
    • Click on New User Registration link at the redirected page.
    • Register with a valid number and email id.
    • Log in with the user ID and password received.
    • Fill the mandatory details and upload following documents:
    1. Passport sized Photograph 
    2. Signature
    3. Left Hand Thumb Impression
    • Click on Submit button.
    • Proceed to pay the application fee via Net Banking/ Credit/ Debit cards.
