AIIMS MBBS 2018 Answer Key, Question Paper & Analysis

AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) has successfully conducted AIIMS MBBS on May 26 and 27 in online mode. The examination was held in 155 cities across India. The difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult.

Candidates who appeared for AIIMS MBBS 2018 are informed that official AIIMS MBBS Answer Key is available at official website. After the release of answer keys, the results will be declared on June 18 at

The exam was conducted in two shifts-morning and afternoon. Majority of candidates said that the-

  • Questions from Physics and Chemistry subjects were tough compared to Biology and General Knowledge.
  • The Physics portion had both numerical and theoretical questions.

AIIMS MBBS Answer Key 2018

AIIMS MBBS  2018 Answer Key will be accessible online after the exam. The answer key will be available for Chemistry, Physics, General knowledge and Biology. With the help of the keys, students can calculate an estimated score in the exam.

Steps to Check Answer Key 2018

  1. Visit the official website of AIIMS
  2. Enter the required credentials i.e. Application ID and Password.
  3. Then, click on submit button. AIIMS MBBS 2018 answer key will be displayed.
  4. Download the answer key and match answer with your answer.
  5. Take a print out for future reference.

Challenging AIIMS MBBS 2018 Answer Key

Candidates can even challenge the answer key if they find any discrepancy. The challenges against the answer key will be referred to the exam board committees constituted by AIIMS. They can send their objection/ suggestion to the department of AIIMS with the correct format and all relevant documents for the proof.

The complete details about sending the objection/ suggestion against the answer key have not been released by the AIIMS. Therefore, as soon as the answer key gets released, the information regarding the same will also be updated on this page. 

AIIMS MBBS Paper Analysis 2018

AIIMS MBBS consisted of questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge that were to be completed in 3 hours 30 minutes. AIIMS MBBS has 60 questions in all. As for the marking scheme, 1 mark will be given for each correct answer and 1/3 (one-third) marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer.

AIIMS MBBS Subject-wise Analysis 2018

AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam had high difficulty level as expected. Physics was the toughest section while Biology and GK sections were easy to moderate. General Category candidates will have to achieve minimum cut-off scores of 50% to qualify the exam. There are 672 MBBS seats available across 7 AIIMS this year.


  • The difficulty level of this section was very easy.
  • There were as many as 20 reason-assertion based questions in Biology but still, they were not deemed very tough by students and were easy to solve.
  • 90% of the questions were NCERT based.
  • Some questions were diagram based too.
  • Zoology and Botany questions were asked equally.


  • Out of all the sections, physics was the most difficult sections.
  • While the exact number of reason-assertion based questions remain unknown, students insisted that most questions into in this category.
  • Besides, questions in this section were tricky, creative and time-consuming too.
  • Physics topics with most weightage included Dual Matter of Nature & Radiation, Solids & Semiconductors, Reflection and Dispersion of Light, Electric Field, Simple Harmonic Motion, Transfer of Heat, Gravitation, Energy, Newton Laws of Motion, and Units & Measurement.


  • The language of few questions was confusing that students found it difficult to understand the logic to be applied.
  • The entire paper was according to the NCERT course.
  • There were as many as 18 reason-assertion based questions in Chemistry.
  • Though Chemistry section was easier than Physics, it still had a high difficulty level.
  • Chemistry topics with most weightage in the exam included Ionic Equilibrium, Organic Reaction Mechanism, Benezoids, Ketones, Silicon & Compounds, Carbon & Compounds, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Mole Concept.

Student’s Viewpoints

Mansi Kumaria, who appeared for AIIMS MBBS on Sunday, found the biology section the easiest. She said, “Most of the questions were NCERT based. The chemistry paper was moderately tough”.

Neeraj who appeared in the entrance exam from Delhi said that the questions from “Physics were difficult and tricky.”

Baynath, another candidate appearing in AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam for the second time found the exam to be tough compared to the previous year. “I found all section to be of moderate level, expect Physics and Chemistry.”

Rahul, who appeared in the second slot of AIIMS MBBS from Nagpur said, “I have attempted a good number of questions from all the subjects. Though Physics was tough I attempted good number of questions from this section also. The easiest section for me was General Knowledge. I didn’t find any technical problem while giving the entrance exam”.

Sanaa, a candidate from Haryana also echoed the sentiment of “Physics being very tough and numerical questions taking a lot of time.” She added that “Biology was a cakewalk” and was easier than she expected it would be.

Expert’s Viewpoint

Attempt: As per the experts, students who prepared properly for the medical entrance exam will be able to answer approximately 80% of the paper without any problem.

Difficulty Level: The question paper was slightly towards the difficult side of physics being the toughest of the four (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and GK). The moderate level of Chemistry, Biology and GK is a good way to balance out the difficulties in the Physics section. 

AIIMS MBBS Cut Off 2018

AIIMS Cut off is the least score that a candidate needs to score in order to be eligible for the counselling process and take admission in the participating institutes. As per the AIIMS MBBS qualifying criteria,

  • Cut off score for general category candidates is 50% while for
  • OBC candidates have to score 45% in the AIIMS medical entrance exam.

The cut off will be determined on the basis of percentile as the examination will be held in two shifts and a Normalization Procedure will be used to determining the qualifying criteria.

A normalization procedure was used to determine a percentile corresponding to cut offs in AIIMS MBBS 2018. Officials say-

  • If the percentiles of the two shifts are unequal, the lower of the two will be considered for cut off of that category for all candidates.
  • For example, if the 50% marks correspond to a Percentile score of 90 in Shift 1 and to a Percentile score of 88 in shift 2 and those equal to or above 88 Percentile (Percentile score of 100 to 88) in both shifts will become eligible in General Category.
  • Similar method will be adopted for the other categories to determine eligibility cut offs.

AIIMS MBBS Cut off varies every year according to each of the AIIMS Institutes. The cut off is released after the AIIMS Result is declared. All the existing AIIMS announce their respective cut off list. Provided the candidates qualify the cut off, they can proceed to the counselling process for admission.



AIIMS Result will be declared on June 18, 2018. It can be checked on the official website of AIIMS. It will include names of all the qualifying candidates who successfully cleared AIIMS MBBS. It will be declared rank wise as well as roll number wise.

  • Enter your AIIMS MBBS credentials namely ID and password to access the scores.
  • The examination results for each shift would be prepared in the form of Raw Scores, Percentages, and Percentiles (up to 7 decimal places) separately for each of the four subjects (Biology, Physics, Chemistry and General Knowledge) and the Total. 
  • The Percentile of the Total shall not be an aggregate or average of the Percentile of individual subjects. 

Steps to check the scores and percentile:

  • Log on to the official website of AIIMS,
  • Click on the link “Result of AIIMS 2018”.
  • Candidates will be required to fill in the asked details, i.e.  Candidate ID, Password and a security pin.
  • Login after filling and rechecking the details.
  • The result will appear on the screen.
  • Download AIIMS MBBS 2018 Result and print it out for a further procedure of admission.

Note: Candidates are advised to take the printout of the result and keep it safe till the admission procedure.
