AIIMS 2018 registration link has become active. Aspirants can either visit the official website or click the above-given/ link for application form from February 05, 2018. The last date of registering for AIIMS MBBS 2018 is March 05, 2018. Release date of Admit Card is May 10, 2018.

Meanwhile, the organizing committee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) 2018 entrance exam is amongst the most awaited entrance exams in the country. This committee has announcements for the aspirants.

Chandigarh has been confirmed to be the online examination center for AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam. It is a big relief for the candidates living in or nearby Chandigarh.

    • AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam will be conducted on May 25 and 26, 2018. There will be two shifts on each of these days. So, the exam will be carried out in four shifts.
    • All the appearing candidates will be divided into four groups evenly, to appear in the exam according to these four shifts. The rationale behind this decision is to avoid the chaos of students considering the huge number of applicants and limited examination centers.
    • Experts feel like it is practically not possible for preparing four sets of paper for the four shifts containing different questions with the same level of difficulty. Even many students agree that there would be the difference between the difficulty of questions in various sets.
    • So, it would just be a matter of luck for many students for getting a set of comparatively easier questions. Many students are afraid with the possibility that the students going to appear in the two shifts on May 26 will be able to inquire about the questions of the first two shifts on May 25 through their friends and other sources.
    • This would be unfair to those candidates who were to have appeared for the test of May 25. They would tend to score lesser marks as compared to those going to appear on May 26.

About 100 more seats for the MBBS course have been added this year. This has been made possible with the addition of two new AIIMS at Guntur and Nagpur, from the academic year 2018-2019

Each of these two new AIIMS will have 50 new seats for the MBBS course. The addition of the 100 new seats at these two new AIIMS will make the total count of seats as 800, from the previous 700.

In AIIMS MBBS 2017, 3,64,242 candidates registered for the test, and 2,84,737 of those appeared in it for just 700 seats at 7 AIIMS across the country.

Additionally, unlike NEET and other medical entrances, the AIIMS MBBS 2018 examination organizing committee is not going to issue any official answer keys for students to validate their answers and predict their expected scores. Also, the appearing candidates will not be able to file an objection or claim a challenge to the official answers of the examination questions.

So, despite being for the India’s top medical institutions, candidates feel the process of the AIIMS MBBS exam less transparent than NEET and others. The AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam will also cover 20 questions from the General Knowledge and Reasoning sections (10 questions each).

This would help in selection of talented students with smart brains. Apart from those many clarifications, the organizing committee of the exam has not confirmed information about few topics.

Exam committee will not share the tie-breaking method to be followed for AIIMS MBBS 2018. Tie-breaking is generally used to evaluate ranks, in case two or more students score equal marks in the AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam.

Then the board of syllabus of the exam is also not shared by the organizing committee. Experts say that the result of this entrance and ranking will totally depend on the board of the syllabus from which the questions will be covered.

The questions at this point may be covered from the 11th and 12th class syllabus of the CBSE, ICSE or state boards. NEET, however, covers the questions mainly from the CBSE syllabus.

When students were asked, they shared their thoughts that currently, the nature of AIIMS MBBS questions is very ambiguous. They are taken up from anywhere. This entrance should also be streamlined and systemized like NEET.

The questions asked should be to the point, covered from the defined syllabus, comprehensive and based on simplified pattern. After all, the entrance is about picking up the top 800 students from the country to transform them into the world class doctors.
