Those who get shortlisted after the commencement of CDS 2018 for the interview. The interview is conducted by Service Selection Board (SSB) which vets the candidates into armed forces depending upon their suitability. The CDSSSB 2018 includes various personality and intelligent tests as a part of this interview. Some of these tests are paper based while some are a group task. The interview process generally lasts for a week.
SSB contains three tests which are categorized as screening, physiological and group test. Group tests consist of various tests namely Group Discussion, Group Planning Exercise (Military Planning Exercise), Progressive Group task and many more.
Progressive Group Task (PGT) is the heart of the group testing task series. It is very simple and fun task which helps in unwrapping the qualities lying inside an individual.
These group exercises are formed in such a way that they test the ability of candidates to perform in a team and how they face the problems practically.
The groups are formed without any team leader so that the entire group should work with an essence of cooperation. The exercises are simple and there are many numbers of solutions for them so all the candidates should be focused and think with a calm nerve before coming up for a solution.
The whole exercise lasts up to 40 to 45 minutes starting with most easy tasks and ending with difficult ones. All the exercises are supervised under an officer (GTO). In this task the candidates are required to cross the start and finish lines carrying a load with supporting material.
The GTO explains in all the instructions before the commencement of the task and also informs about structures or materials not to be touched and the areas out of bound. He then handles them a wooden plank, pole and ropes which should be used to pass through the obstacles. Once the candidates complete these obstacles he is taken to another one and the task continues till the last exercise.
However, there are certain rules which candidates should follow during PGT.
There is as such no preparation required for PGT. The exercises of PGT are very easy and they are to test your instincts and your role and contribution in a team. One needs to be calm and focused before starting the task. Just remember these four don’ts and you can surely pass all the obstacles of PGT. Don’t criticize, don’t shout, don’t break the rules and most importantly don’t give up keep trying.
All the best!!
