STATE LEVEL ONLINE TEST
SRMCAT 2017 is a university level entrance examination which is conducted by SRM (Sri Ramasamy Memorial University). It is an online computer based test. A large number of candidates apply for this exam every year. This year, those candidates who are willing to appear for SRMCAT 2017 have to fill the application form online or offline by March 30, 2017.
SRMCAT is an objective type test and has 100 questions to be answered in 150 minutes. The examination tests a student’s ability in 5 sections. The sections of the exam are as follows:
The SRMCAT is purely administered online, and is a computer-based test, although it has to be noted that the reliance on computer skills is minimal for the examination.
Data Interpretation evaluates candidate’s ability to pick data and then apply the data to business decisions. This section requires mastery in Data interpretation from text and Data Interpretation from Graphs and tables. The graphs can be column graphs, bar graphs, line charts, pie graphs and graphs representing Venn diagrams, area, etc.
Candidates appearing for the exam must focus on their ability to solve graphs and tabular information. With the passing years, SRM University has made a lot of changes in its CAT Exam Pattern including some major changes in the Data Interpretation section of the exam. Let’s look at the year wise topic breakup of SRMCAT over the years.
We can clearly see from the graph that a gradual shift has been made by SRMU in their testing process. In 2014, Numerical Problems ruled the section and there has been constant dip in the number of numerical problems ever since with 6 questions asked in 2014 followed by 6 in 2015. However, the major dip was seen in 2016 when the there were just 2 questions in SRMCAT 2016. The MBA pundits predict that the papeer weightage of Data Interpretation will follow the same pattern as last year and is expected to be divided among topics as follows.
