UPSC NDA: SSB Lecturette Topics

NDA (National Defence Academy) is a national level entrance exam which is conducted by UPSC, twice a year for recruitment in National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy. Candidates who will clear the NDA 2017 written exam conducted by UPSC will need to go through an Interview. The 5-day Selection Process will be scheduled at the Armed Forces SSB Centers spread across the country.

Service Selection Board is the personality & intelligence interview which analyses potential and compatibility of each candidate for the employment into the Armed Forces of India.

Lecturette is one of the tests conducted during SSB Interview to judge the personality of the candidates. Lecturette is a small speech or talk given by candidate, lecturette is conducted by GTO during group task. As part of SSB Interivew, in lecturette topics – one card is provided which contains 4 of the SSB Lecturette topics and out of 4 topics candidates has to talk on one topic for 3 minutes.

GTO (Group Testing Officer) will ask candidates to a give brief introduction before they start SSB Lecturette small talk. For this, the candidate has to say on following:

Importance of SSB Lecturette Topics

Lecturette is a 3 minutes’ exercise where a candidate is required to present a speech related to a topic which he has to choose out of 4 given topics. Generally, topics are simple in nature and a person who is a little bit aware of all the latest happening in world can easily pass this task. How to Prepare for SSB Lecturette Topics

NDA 2017

In this test, no one is going to interrupt you while speaking, so your performance depends totally upon you. Good scoring depends on following gestures-


Below are some tips given for a candidate which surely helpful for SSB Lecturette-

  • Improve your communication & oratory skills.
  • Be updated with current affairs, latest National & International happenings.
  • Be confident while delivering lecturette.
  • Do crisp actions with smartness.
  • Be active participant of social networking, it enhances information & communication skills.
  • Use accurate pronunciation & words to articulate sentence in an impressive manner.
  • Avoid silly mistakes of grammar like his-her, has-had, etc. all these leave a bad impression.
  • Keep in check the pause and breaks when speaking it will help in maintaining the tempo of the lecture.
  • Practice daily in front of a mirror & speak for about 3 minutes on at least 10 topics daily.
  • Keep the lecture in short memory cards in mind while preparing the topic and unfold them in sequence while delivering the lecture.
