NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
The Second level of the UPSC Civil Services Recruitment Exam requires the interested qualified applicants to submit DAF by October 20 upto 0500 PM. The IAS Exam is scheduled to be conducted from December 03 onwards. DAF can be filled by Candidates who meet the IAS Exam Eligibility of clearing the previous iteration of Ace Recruitment Exam with marks above the decided IAS Cutoff.
The Detailed Application Form commonly known a DAF can be filled at the official website of Union Public Service Examination, UPSC. The Registration for the IAS Mains commenced from October 07, 2016 and the last date to accept the completely filled DAF is October 20, 2016. The Applications will be accepted till 0500 PM. No IAS DAF Applications will be accepted after the IAS Mains Registration window closes on Oct 20.

IAS Mains will be conducted for all the IAS Prelims Qualified candidates. Conducted on August 07, UPSC Prelims was scheduled for successful and smooth conduction for the total 11.36 lac registered candidates. The candidates appeared at 83 different IAS Exam Centres and took the IAS Prelims 2016. The Result for the Exam was announced on the UPSC official website in form of IAS Merit List. The Result was released at the UPSC Official Website on September 16, 2016.

The Mains exam of Civil Services is the next and the second last level of IAS Selection Process. Over 15,000 candidates qualified for IAS Mains. The qualified candidates will have to take the seven papers chosen during the IAS Online Application. The duration of the each paper will be of 3 hours. The total marks collectively will be 2025 marks. Each Paper will be of 250 marks with the Personality Test being an exception. The Personality Test will be of 275 marks. Candidates will be given an option to choose the mode of IAS Mains. The Candidates will have to choose from available modes, English & Hindi. The Questions asked will be Subjective Form. The candidates will write their answers in Conventional Essay Form.

The Candidates further selected from the IAS Mains exam will be invited for next level of Selection Process that includes Personal Interview & Personality Check. Candidates will be tested of their Communication Aptitude and awareness about the recent events and important activities around the globe.
The candidates are also judged of their mental alertness and critical powers of assimilation with clear and apt logical exposition.
Post the successful conduction of IAS Preliminary Exam, UPSC IAS Exam followed by the IAS Interview Test, a Final IAS Merit List is prepared after normalizing the marks obtained by the candidates in each step.
The candidates are then judged as per the merit list and are finally shortlisted on the basis of IAS Merit List Published at upsc.gov.in during April 2017.
The shortlisting of candidates also depends upon the vacancy available and the decided IAS Cutoff.
