NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
IAS Mains 2017 is to be conducted in the first week of December 2017. Those candidates who qualified the IAS Prelims 2017 have to register IAS Mains 2017 Application Form. The form will be made available on the official site of the UPSC from October 7, 2017. Let’s get a quick highlight of IAS Mains 2017.
IAS Mains Eligibility standards are similar to that of previous stage for qualified students of IAS Prelims. The applicants whose applications have been accepted can access their IAS Main Admit Card from November 10, 2017, tentatively. The candidates have to attempt two qualifying papers and Seven papers that are considered for merit. The final IAS Mains Result is declared in the month of April 2018. The recruitment for the Civil Service posts is made on the basis of IAS Mains scores & the subsequent interview conducted by the UPSC.
UPSC will release the IAS Mains official notification on the first week of October, 207. IAS Mains Application Form 2017 will be available from October 7, 2017, tentatively. The IAS Aspirants can go through the entire details of the IAS Mains Exam Dates for 2017 in the table given below:

The IAS Mains 2017 Eligibility is similar to that of the IAS Prelims Eligibility criteria.
The candidate must have a graduation degree in any specialization.
The candidate must be between 21 years to 32 years. However, there are relaxations for candidates of SC/ST and PWD candidates.
They candidates must be a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee or a person of Indian who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention to settle in India.
The candidates have to score a minimum of 33 % in paper II of IAS Prelims 2017 and the total qualifying marks set for the paper I of IAS Prelims 2017.
The candidates qualifying the IAS Prelims 2017 can apply online o the official website of the commission. They have to note the below-mentioned points while filling the IAS Mains 2017 Application Form:
The candidates can remit the IAS Mains Application Fee either by online or offline mode. The IAS Mains Application Fee is INR 200
In the case of offline payment, the applicant can pay by cash at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI). In the case of offline payment, the payment can be made through Debit/Credit Card or through the net banking service provided by State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore.
The IAS Mains 2017 Admit Card will be available from November 9, 2017, to December 09, 2017. The applicants can download the IAS Mains Admit Card from the official website upsc.gov.in. UPSC does not send the e-admission certificate by post.
The candidates have to download the IAS Mains Admit Card by using the Registration ID or Roll Number or Name & Date of Birth.

IAS Mains 2017 Exam Pattern consists of two stages- Written Test & Interview. The Written Test comprises of 9 papers in total. Out of the 9 papers, 2 are qualifying and the rest of the 7 papers are considered for calculation of merit. Check IAS Exam Pattern Trend for last 3 years.

Note: Even though the evaluation of all the 9 papers will be done simultaneously, but the Commission will take the papers of Essay, 4 General Studies and the 2 Optional Subjects under cognizance only if the candidates attain a minimum of 25% in the first two qualifying papers of Indian Language & English.

IAS Mains 2017 Result will be announced in April 2018. The IAS Mains Result is solely based on the performance of candidates in the written exam. The marks obtained in the Paper II to Paper V will be counted for merit ranking. The Commission has the discretion for applying qualifying marks to each of the papers individually. The steps to download the IAS Mains 2017 Result are mentioned below:
The IAS Mains 2017 Interview or personality test is the final stage of the civil service examination. The interview has a weightage of 275 marks out of a total of 2025 marks.
The Interview is conducted by the selection committee of the UPSC that aims to assess and test the candidates at the personal level. The Commission sets definite qualifying marks for the Interview.
What happens in an IAS Interview?
After UPSC announces the IAS Mains Result including the result of the Interview, the IAS Exam Cut off is released. The IAS Exam Cut off is declared for each of the three stages- Prelims, Mains, and Interview. The difficulty level, the number of candidates taking the test, the number of vacancies will determine the IAS Cut off for the year.
