NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
IAS Mains 2018 will be held in the last week of October 2018. Individuals who clear the Prelims stage must register for the Mains exam. Applications process will conclude by August 2018. The exam will constitute of nine papers.
Results for IAS Mains 2018 will be announced in December 2018 by the commission. Applicants who qualify the Mains exam will have to appear for the Interview round that holds 25% weightage in the final merit list. They will be recruited in various departments as per their position in the merit list.
IAS exam is considered to be the toughest government exam. It aims at selecting the best out of the best students to become Grade A officers. Every year more than 11 lakh individuals register for IAS. The screening process is such that only 15,000 participants qualify for the Mains exam and less than 3,000 for the Interview round.
IAS Prelims will be held in June 2018. Candidates who have cleared IAS Prelims must apply for the Mains exam. They must visit the official website of UPSC i.e. www.upsc.gov.in . The important dates for IAS Mains 2018 are given in the table below:

IAS Mains 2018 Application Process will begin in August. Applications will be accepted only in the online mode on the official website of UPSC. Candidates must ensure that they meet the academic, age and citizenship criteria to be eligible for the exam.
IAS Mains 2018 Registration will be done in two parts followed by payment of application fees. Here are some quick highlights
In the 2nd stage of registration, aspirants must fill up qualification and communication details. They must select their preferred exam center and upload certain documents. Candidates will be required to upload scanned copies of their recent photograph and signature to complete the application process.
IAS Mains exam will consist of nine conventional essay type papers. There will be two qualifying and seven merit papers. Aspirants should clear the qualifying papers by securing the required marks for the consideration of other merit papers.
Aspirants can attempt the papers in both English and Hindi language. The duration of each paper is 3 hours. Extra time of 20 minutes will be provided for blind participants.
The total weightage of IAS Mains 2018 written exam is 1750 marks. Students must clear all the papers individually to move to the final Interview round.
The qualifying subjects are two language papers out of which one is English. The other subject is the Indian language paper which should be chosen by participants from the languages mentioned in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution. However, the Indian language paper will not be mandatory for applicants belonging to the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalya, Manipur, Nagaland and Sikkim.
Maximum marks for both papers are 300 each. These papers will be of matriculation or equivalent level. Aspirants must attain at least 25% aggregate (75 marks) in each to fulfill the minimum qualifying standards in these subjects. The marks secured in these papers will not be counted for ranking.
The remaining seven papers will be on varied subjects which will be used for merit preparation. There will be two optional papers in which individuals must choose the subject from the list provided by UPSC. A variety of subjects like Law, Medical Sciences, Management, Engineering and pure sciences can be attempted.

IAS Main 2018 Cut off will be released after the results are declared. Applicants must clear the cut off declared by UPSC to be eligible for the next round. They must secure the minimum required marks as per their category. The cut off for the previous year is given below:
IAS Mains 2018 Result will be declared 15 days after the exam. It will likely be announced in December 2018 on the official UPSC website.
It is the final stage of IAS selection procedure. It will be conducted at the UPSC office in New Delhi. The final result will be declared after considering the performance of participants in both IAS Mains exam and interview.
IAS Interview will be declared in April 2018. Individuals who emerge victorious will be recruited by various departments of the civil services.
