UPSEE 2020 NEWS
STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
While this was always in consideration, it is now confirmed that Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Entrance Exam (UPSEE) will be scrapped from the 2021 session. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University is considered as one of the top state universities in India for engineering courses. The state university will instead use JEE Main score for admission in the engineering colleges affiliated to it. As per the latest figure, there are a total of 1.5 Lac seats in the state in 750 engineering colleges.
JEE Main is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to offer admission to various bachelor level programs like B. Tech/ B. E., B. Plan and B. Arch. in top engineering colleges across India covering the IIITs, NITs, etc. It is then followed by JEE Advanced to be eligible for admissions in the IITs. Those looking for admission in Top Engineering Colleges across the state of Uttar Pradesh have to take a separate admission examination of UPSEE.
The tentative exam date of the UPSEE was May 10, 2020 which is now postponed till further notice due to the CoronaVirus pandemic. However, it is expected to be conducted by the end of July as the restrictions will be lifted gradually.
Even though it was evident for some years, the decision finally came after multiple discussions that took between the Vice-chancellor of the Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) Professor Vinay Pathak and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
Multiple states already use JEE Main score to fill its state engineering college seats, thus the Uttar Pradesh state government also decided to make use of it. This not only saves the student from appearing in multiple exams but also relieves the pressure of preparing two separate engineering entrance exams.
Thus, the students who will be taking Engineering Entrance examination in 2021, there will be no UPSEE examination and instead JEE Main exam score will be used by the Uttar Pradesh based Engineering Colleges. It also gives the candidate enough time to be better prepared and focus on the Main syllabus only.
While JEE Main is to be used for admissions in the Uttar Pradesh based Engineering Colleges, JEE Main is also conducted twice a year, giving the students ultimate benefit. JEE Main is first held in the month of January and then conducted again in April, the student who has not fared well in the January exam can have another take on the improvement of marks.
JEE Main is conducted in three different languages including English, Hindi and Gujrati. For those taking the B. Tech/ B. E. Admission examination, the entrance is completely computer based with total marks of 300 covering the Multiple Choice Questions as well as the Numerical value questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Those taking entrance examinations of the B. Arch or B. Planning courses, the sections of Mathematics and Aptitude will be common except the third section that is based on drawing or planning respectively. The B. Arch and B. Planning will be of 400 marks each and both the exams have a total time duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.
JEE Main Question Paper: For JEE Main examination to be conducted in 2020, there is an addition of the Numerical based questions. The B. Tech. / B. For every incorrect response there will be a deduction of 1 mark. It is important to note that there will be no negative marking for any of the incorrect responses in the Numerical Value Answer based Question or any of the questions which have not been attempted. The 2 drawing tests which are included in the B. Arch entrance examination are of 50 marks each.
Exam Duration: B.E/ B. Tech entrance examination is of total duration of 3 hours. Candidates taking the entrance examination of either of B. Arch and B. Planning, the exam duration is of 3 hours 30 minutes.

Have a time table for JEE Main preparation: The most important aspect of preparation for the entrance examination is that the aspirant must have a plan and a time table to follow that plan. Since, currently JEE Main has a lot of competition and now the UPSEE based aspirants would also be added in JEE Main competition, it becomes more important to follow a routine.
Follow the NCERT Books: There is no doubt that JEE Main aspirants are flooded with books, it is important to study the NTA prescribed book i.e. NCERT text books of class 11th and class 12th. It becomes easier to study and follow a single book rather than following multiple resources, which can create difficulty later on.
Focus on all the sections: Since all the sections have equal weightage given by the National Testing Agency, it is without any doubt evident that every subject has equal importance. The experts suggest preparing short notes of each and every subject which can include all the different concepts, formulae and equations.
Making Basic Concepts Strong: JEE Main is known to test the basics of the candidate. While it is essential to study all the topics mentioned in the syllabus prescribed by the National Testing Agency. Also, by knowing the basic concepts, it becomes much easier to understand each topic in depth. This results in greater understanding of the topics and further simplifying the studying of complicated topics.
Improving the weak points: Each and every candidate will surely have a weak point in a subject. Experts suggest spending more time and focusing on the topics which are stressing the candidate. Also, the candidate can understand such concepts by constantly studying them.
Previous Year Papers: While this is synonymous for each and every exam, it is no different for JEE Main. The entrance examination aspirants are advised to take multiple mock tests which are well constructed by best faculties or the previous year JEE Main exam papers. This will help the aspirant in understanding the exam environment, needless to say the stress of solving the questions in a specific period of time. However, with the recent modifications this stress is going to be reduced immensely as the number of questions has reduced from 90 to 75 in the same amount of time.
No need to panic: While preparing in the exam hall, the candidate needs to make sure that there is no panic. The candidate must be calm, confident and composed. Stress during the examination will only ruin the year long efforts and hard work.
