Ques. Name of the institutions which offered you admission

Ans.Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering Technology Jhansi (Govt), IERT Allahabad (Govt. Aided).

Ques. Did you take coaching classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?

Ans. Yes I took coaching from Aakash Institute Kanpur. It was beneficial as it clears fundamentals but for appearing in UPSEE, I don't feel much coaching is required as questions in UPSEE are basic 12th standard questions. Though UPSEE syllabus is same as JEE but its level is much easier than other exams. NCERT books are more than sufficient for its preparation. Talking about the exam, my approach was to attempt maximum question as I could and do not get stuck up in any question and yes do attempt all the question because there is no negative marking so you can try some educated guesses too.
In UPSEE make sure that you complete your course unlike JEE where you need to go into depth of each topic. In UPSEE, you just have to go through the topics and complete the course. No need to stick to one topic because questions there will be of very moderate level.

Ques. How would you rate the following preparation strategy in terms of their efficiency in your story?

Coaching classesNCERT text booksCoaching study material Online study materialSubject wise classesSelf-study
ModerateVery highLowLowHighVery high

Ques. Rate the role of coaching institutes in cracking UPSEE

Ans. 7

Ques. How did you manage UPSEE preparation along with your class 12th exam?

Ans. Maintaining 12th along with competitive exam was tough one but my more focus was on 12th boards exam. Once I gave my board exams in March there was about a month time for me to prepare for UPSEE so I just brushed up my fundamental and revised the same class 12th course and it helped.

Ques. What were your strong and weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?

Ans. My strong area was chemistry or better say theoretical portion. It was directly from NCERT. My weak portion was mathematics calculus and physics.
For calculus I solved complete NCERT books of class 12th. For physics I wrote all the formulae in one place and used to see or revise those formulae regularly and this has helped in board exams as well as in competitive examinations.
I did same thing for chemistry and I kept separate notes of all the chemical reactions and used to see it frequently.

Ques. What mock papers did you take?

Ans. I joined Aakash Institute all India test series, it was provided to me from coaching itself it was very good. It includes mock papers for JEE AIEEE and UPSEE also combine. Giving mock was very beneficial as it shows about my level of preparation and my shortcomings. Another important thing was solution of questions our coaching used to provide solution of mocks and analysis of UPSEE mock test were more important than mock itself.

Ques. Write some of the preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

Ans. If you have not prepared anything and there are only 4 months for your UPSEE no need of getting panic. 4 months are more than enough to prepare for UPSEE. Only thing is, you have to be precise in your studies and follow selected books and cover a topic from one book only because studying same topic from multiple books not only creates confusion but also it kills lots of time so better follow only one author or book for a particular topic.

Ques. Physics: mention the strategy and books followed for this section.

Ans. If talking exclusively about UPSEE, then there's no need to rush for any high level books like HC Verma or I.E. Irodov. It will only demoralize you and questions are not of that level only thing I did was just studied NCERT and afterwards I went through modern ABC Pradeep just because content in NCERT physics was very precise and for better understanding Pradeep is NCERT based guide. For physics formulae and numerical are everything. So, it hardly matters whether you mug it up or understand the derivation but you must remember each and every question and in UPSEE there will be much formulae based questions.

Ques. Chemistry: mention the strategy and books followed for this section

Ans. For chemistry, NCERT is the only book from where all the competitive exams are covered. In UPSEE questions come as it is from NCERT and in that too major portion is covered from organic chemistry which is second book of NCER. For organic chemistry even the reaction and formulae come directly from NCERT and this was the section in which I scored maximum and only thing I did was just studied complete 11th and 12th NCERT books for organic and inorganic chemistry and there were very strong chances that you score 90-95% in chemistry section if you have studied NCERT properly.

Ques. Mathematics: mention the strategy and books followed for this section.

Ans. Mathematics was the section which needed constant practice. I practiced all the questions of NCERT books thoroughly, but practicing only NCERT texts will not lend up scoring very good marks in any competitive exams. So I practiced some coaching class materials provided by Aakash Institute specially Aakash success magnet.
Arihant books for calculus and S.L. Loony for coordinate geometry was very beneficial in understanding the topic thoroughly.
Most tough portion for me was calculus. So, during exam I first solved other topics like algebra and arithmetic in which I was more comfortable than I moved on to calculus. But at the end no matter which book you follow, practice is the most important tool for mathematics.

Ques. What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?

Ans. I would have just practiced more questions and do practice on the preference basis.
