5 Pointers to check in UPSC IES Admit Card

The Union Public Service Commission released the official notification for IES 2018 on September 27. Candidates who registered successfully will be issued their IES Admit Card at www.upsconline.nic.in.

UPSC will issue two admit cards (Prelims and Mains) and one call letter for Personality Test. This year, IES for Prelims is scheduled for January 7 and Mains for July 1. The document can be downloaded using Registration No. and Date of Birth or Roll No. Check IES 2018 Exam Dates

Here are five of the key points that you must cross-check in your UPSC IES 2018 Admit Card:

1. Candidate’s Personal Details

Name

  • Candidates must check their name carefully in the Admit Card. It is the primary information about candidate.
  • The name written on the Admit card must be same as in the high-school mark sheet and in other official documents like Aadhaar card, driving license, passport or voter ID card.

Date of Birth

  • After checking the name carefully, candidates should also check their date of birth.
  • Candidate’s date of birth must be same in the official documents/birth certificate.
  • If the details in the Admit card is not same as in the official ID, candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
  • The date of birth entered by the candidate should be same as written in class 10th certificate.
  • Candidates are required to contact the examination authority immediately in case of any changes required for the correction in candidate’s date of birth.

Father/ Mother's Name

  • Candidates must also ensure that their Father/Mother’s name must be same as in the high-school mark sheet and in other official documents like Aadhaar card, driving license, passport or voter ID card.
  • Candidates are required to contact the examination authority immediately in case of any discrepancies.

2. Candidate's Photograph and Signature

  • At the time of UPSC IES 2018 Application form filling, candidates have to upload a recent coloured passport size photograph and scanned image of their signature.
  • Candidates should make sure that the same photograph and signature is printed on the Admit Card.
  • The printed photograph must be clear and face should be visible properly. 
  • Candidates must ensure that the signature in the Admit card is of proper size and visible.
  • Blurred image of Photograph and signature may cause a problem at the examination center.
  • The photograph on the Admit card will be used for verification process at UPSC IES Exam center.
  • With the uploaded sign, there will also be blank space for signature which has to be signed by the candidates in the examination hall in front of the invigilator.
  • Candidates must sign same in all places.
  • Candidates are also asked to sign on the attendance sheet in the examination hall. Both these signatures should be exactly the same.

3. Candidate's Registration ID and Roll Number

  • After the successful registration process, candidates are provided will their registration ID. This Registration ID is required to log in to the candidate’s portal.
  • Candidates should secure the registration ID for future purposes.
  • The registration ID is an important credential required on every step of the admission process.
  • Candidates should check the registration ID on the UPSC IES Admit Card is identical to the registration number generated at the time of registration process.
  • Candidates should also check the roll number provided by the examination authority in the Admit Card. 

4. Exam Schedule

  • Candidates are advised to check all the information present on UPSC IES 2018 Admit card about the exam date and time, reporting time and instructions for the exam day. 
  • IES Preliminary examination paper is conducted in two shifts with a break of one hour, candidates must take note of that as the timing and duration are clearly written in the Admit card.

5. Exam Center details

  • Candidates have to choose any three exam center preferences at the time of UPSC IES Registration.
  • UPSC appoints the examination center based on the availability of space and first-cum-first basis, so candidates may or may not give the first preference as their exam center. However, UPSC tries to give any one of the three mentioned preferences.
  • The final allotted exam center is marked on the admit card.
  • Admit Card will contain the name of the exam center as well the address and the landmark.
  • Candidates must reach the venue before the reporting time to avoid any discrepancy.

Discrepancy in IES Admit Card

If a candidate does not receive his/her admit card or if there is/are any discrepancies in the UPSC IES Admit card or any other communication regarding his/her candidature for the examination, he/she should at once contact the Commission.   Information in this regard can also be obtained from the Facilitation Counter located in the Commission’s Office either in person or over phone Nos. 011‐23381125/011-23385271/011‐23098543.     

All the communication too the UPSC should contain the following particulars:

  • Name and Year of the examination.
  • Registration ID
  • Roll Number (if received)
  • Name of the candidate in Full and in BLOCK letters
  • Valid and active email address
  • Complete Postal Address given in the application form.

Note: In case no communication is received in the Commission’s Office from the candidate regarding non‐receipt of his/her admit card or any discrepancies in the UPSC IES Admit card at least one week before the examination, he/she himself/herself will be solely responsible.

On receipt of the Admit Card, check it carefully and bring discrepancies/error, if any, to the notice of UPSC immediately.
