IES 2018: UPSC releases Exam Dates, Preliminary exam on Jan. 7

Indian Engineering Services or IES, is conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) each year. IES Exam is held to recruit candidates to various posts in the core engineering fields- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering.

IES 2018 is scheduled for January 07, 2018 (Prelims) and July 01, 2018 (Mains). Candidates have to clear a two-tier selection process- Written Test and Personality Test, to be able to clear IES Exam. The Government of India recruits the civil servants and officials on the basis of merit ranking secured by candidates appeared in the Engineering Services Examination.

UPSC notification for IES Application Form filling process has been released at www.upsc.gov.in. Candidates can register for it from September 27, 2017 till October 23, 2017. Read on to know about IES 2018 eligibility, registration process, important dates, etc.

IES 2018 Exam Dates

IES Important Dates are now available online at UPSC Official Website. Candidates must fill-in the application form before the last date i.e. October 23, 2017 to appear for the exam. The below table describes all the necessary dates for IES Exam.

IES 2018 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate applying for UPSC IES must ensure that he duly fulfills IES Eligibility which is given below. Failure to comply with these criteria may result in cancellation of candidature.

  1. Candidates must be a citizen of India to apply for IES Exam 2017
  2. For other services, the candidate must satisfy any one of the following citizenship criteria:
  • Citizen of India
  • Citizen of Nepal
  • Citizen of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee or a person of Indian who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention to settle in India.
  1. Candidate must be atleast 21 years of age and must not be more than 30 years of age
  2. The upper age limit of 30 years is relaxed up to 35 years in case of Government Servants and reserved category candidates
  3. Candidates must possess any one of the below degrees:
  • Candidate must have obtained a degree in Engineering in the core branch from a university incorporated by state legislature in India
  • He must have passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examination of the Institute of Engineers (India)
  • He should have cleared Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)
  • He should hold a degree/ diploma in Engineering from such foreign University
  • He must have cleared the Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III of the Aeronautical Society of India

IES 2018 Application Form

ESE Registrations 2018 shall be done online at www.upsc online.nic.in. The applicants are advised to submit only single application. All candidates, whether already in Government Service, or in Government owned industrial undertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment, should apply online direct to the Commission.

Persons, already in Government service whether in a permanent or temporary capacity or as work‐charged employees other than causal or daily rated employees or those serving under public enterprises are, however, required to inform their Head of Office/Department that they have applied for the Examination. The registration for the Indian Engineering Services consists of 4 steps given below:

  • Registration (Part I)- Visit UPSC’s Official Website and register for the IES Exam 2018
  • Application Fee Payment- Choose between online/offline mode of payment
  • Registration (Part II)- Once the payment is made, begin filling other details and cross-check.
  • Upload images- Upload your scanned photograph and signature images. Agree to the declaration and your IES Application Process is complete.

The last date to apply for the engineering examination is October 23, 2017.

IES 2018 Admit Card

Post successful registration, UPSC will release e-Admission Certificate, more commonly known as IES Admit Card to each candidate. The admit card provided though is provisional yet mandatory for candidates to produce at IES Exam Centre. The document should be supported with an original photo ID issued by Govt. of India.

Admit Card of IES consists of the basic information about the applicants. It is important to verify the details mentioned on e-Admission Certificate according to the information provided during IES Registration.

IES 2018 Post Exam Details

IES Result for all the qualified candidates in the preliminary exam scheduled to be conducted on January 07, 2018 will be declared after the exam is concluded and IES Merit List is prepared. All the qualified candidates will be invited for the next level of IES Selection Process, IES Mains.

The qualified candidates of the IES Mains will be invited for Group Discussion & Personal Interview in which the candidates’ aptitude and communication skills are tested along with their efficiency to project their ideas and establish it in a group.

The final Selection will be done considering the collective marks obtained by candidates in all the levels of IES Exam. We wish best of luck to all IES Aspirants

I have completed the part 1 application before 23rd. But the payment is not done. So, can I make the payment after 23rd ?
