NEET PG 2019 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
National Board of Examination (NBE) has announced that they are going to consider MBBS marks of candidates while preparing merit list for NEET PG 2018. The announcement came out on February 2, 2018, soon after the result declaration. Earlier, the date of birth of candidates was used to select a candidate among several candidates with equal score i.e. a candidate older in age was given the preference over a younger one.
However, the change is required in the process due to an increase in cases of candidates making incorrect entries of their MBBS score in the online application forms. The change will also ensure an accurate and fair tie-break between/among candidates.
NEET PG 2018 was taken by approximately 1.3 lakhs MBBS doctors, to compete for post-graduation seats in top government and private medical college across the country. Given the popularity of exam, discrepancy in the MBBS scores of the candidates is inevitable. The introduction of MBBS score as a criterion in preparation of merit list is an appropriate step to address this issue.
"This is unlike previous NEET PG and All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination where only date of birth was utilized as a tie-breaking criterion. Due to candidates making incorrect MBBS marks entries in the online application form and in order to ensure that the tie-breaking is accurate, NBE has given a onetime final opportunity to all the applicant candidates to make corrections in their MBBS marks through the online portal and submit their scanned MBBS professional mark sheets as a proof of the same for the purpose of verification by NBE," as stated in the press release by NBE officials.
This year forward candidates will be required to submit their MBBS scorecards for verification by the officials, unlike before.
NEET PG 2018 was conducted on January 7, 2018 and the result of exam was declared on January 23, 2017. Registration for the counselling session of the candidates who made it to the merit list is expected to begin by second week of March 20018. Check NEET PG 2018 Result
