IPPB 2017 Preparation Tips

The Post Department, Government of India is expected to conduct the India Post Payments Bank Online Examination. This is a great opportunity for the banking aspirants to get a good paying banking job, which is completely owned by the Department of posts under Government of India. IPPB (India Post Payments Bank) announced 650 vacancies for next year’s operation. The bank needs young and enthusiastic graduates. IPPB Mains Exam Pattern

Candidates need to qualify in each of the sections by securing cut off marks decided by IPPB. Here are the table for IPPB Mains exam pattern.

The selected candidates are called for a Personal Interview. The Personal carries a total of 100 marks. The candidates need to score more than 40% to qualify this interview (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

The final IPPB selection is done taking into consideration both the marks obtained in the IPPB Mains Exam and the personal interview.              

Tips to prepare Quantitative Ability

1. Time Management 

Time Management is an important factor of any competitive exams. Therefore, you should avoid doing long calculations. For doing fast calculations, one should remember tables, square, cubes and square roots.

2. Basics, First

Trying out questions without proper knowledge of basics will not be easy. Focus on strengthening your concepts

3. Create Summary Notes

Make a small version of your class notes by creating summary notes. Spot the important terms and concepts and make sure that you have conceptual clarity about them

4. Previous Years Papers

Solve previous year’s question papers and models IPPB questions. This practice will help you to get familiar with the exam pattern and questions

5. Use of Shortcut Methods in the Right Way

Remembering short tricks in the Quant section can save your precious time in the exam. This section can turn out to be easy for you, if you apply short tricks in the right way.

Tips to prepare Verbal Ability

1. No shortcuts to do well in English

Unlike Mathematics or Reasoning, you can’t just mug up the formulas or tricks and expect to perform well. You have to figure out what your weak areas are.

2. Practice on your weak areas

 Once you have identified the topics you are weak in, start practicing those topics through the practice exercises. Don’t worry if you are getting stuck – practice is the only way to move ahead. 

3. Reading novels and editorial section of newspapers can do wonders for you in comprehension section of verbal ability.

Tips to prepare Logical Reasoning

1. The answer is in the question itself: Always remember that the question is solved by the given data only, no need to make unnecessary assumptions or judgments while solving the question.

2. Fixed Approach: Take a single topic at a given time, logical thinking requires a certain approach. Multiple approaches will just cause confusion nothing else.

3. Try Eliminating options: If you are not able to solve a particular question, then try to eliminate options on the basis of given data.

Tips to prepare General Awareness

  1. Politics: The most important book on this topic is Indian Politics by M. Laxmikanth. You can also attempt to solve questions in NIOS study material and Lucent books.
  2. History: You may start by reading Tamil Nadu State Education Board textbooks of class 11 and 12. Once again, Lucent’s GK book is also good for this section. Questions on Culture can also be easily solved by reading Lucent’s GK books.
  3. Geography: NCERT Textbooks for Social Science Class 7 to 10 and for Geography Class 11, 12.
  4. Economy: Mostly straightforward questions are asked. e.g. Definition and concepts of Economy. NCERT’s Economy book of Class 11 (India’s Economy & Development) is a good read for the basic idea of Indian Economy.
  5. Science: NCERT textbooks of Science from class 6 to 10 are the best source.
  6. Miscellaneous: Lucent’s GK book is more than sufficient to tackle the miscellaneous topics.
