SSC CHSL 2019 Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL is conducted in three tiers - Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Exam Pattern is set by the conducting body, Staff Selection Commission at national level to recruit candidates for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) Postal Assistant (PA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts. SSC CHSL for Tier 1 will be held tentatively in the month of April 2019.

The pattern and syllabus of the exam are based on the 10+2 level curriculum of popular boards in the country. Every year around 15-20 lakh students appear for SSC CHSL and knowing the pattern of examination thoroughly will definitely give an edge to aspirants over others.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern

Tier 1 is objective in nature (MCQ) and the mode of the exam will be online. There are four sections in SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam. The sections are - General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness.

CHSL Tier 1 Important Topics

Questions are based on class 10 and 10+2 level. Each section has thier sepaciliy like English section check candidates’ understanding of the language, General Intelligence and Reasoning section aims to test the logical reasoning ability of a candidate, General Awareness section contains questions on general knowledge, current affairs and Quantitative Aptitude section is to test the candidate’s mathematical abilities. SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

The Tier 2 of SSC CHSL consists of one paper of Hindi or English. The table given below provides a brief of the section wise distribution of SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 2 exam pattern:

  • Tier II of SSC CHSL is conducted in Pen and Paper Mode to assess the writing skills of the candidates.
  • The Paper comprises writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/ Application of approx. 150-200 words.

SSC CHSL Tier 3 Exam Pattern

  • SSC CHSL Tier 3 will be the Skill Test and Typing Test.
  • Typing Test would be conducted only for candidates applying for Data Entry Operator (DEO)
  • Candidates will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, provided by the Commission at the Centre/venue so notified. Check Skill Test/Typing Test for SSC CHSL
  • Typing Test: For English typing- typing speed of 35 words per minute is required, For Hindi typing- typing speed of 30 words per minute is mandatory. Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC, and Court Clerk posts.
  • Skill Test: Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. Skill test is conducted for Data Entry Operator post.
  • Your final admission would be governed on the basis of total score obtained in Tier 1 and Tier 2 only.
  • Only Candidates who are VH/OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy) and OH with a deformity in writing hand will be allowed 35 minutes including compensatory time 20 minutes for the skill test.

SSC CHSL 2019 Marking Scheme

SSC CHSL Tier 1 will have MCQ type of questions and all the questions will carry 1 marks each while stage II is a descriptive type exam. Candidates can go through marking scheme applicable for SSC CHSL tier 1:

  • Total Questions- 100 (4 subjects)
  • Total Marks- 200
  • Marks for Each Correct Answer- +2 mark
  • Negative Marking- 0.50 mark
  • Questions Left Blank- No mark.

Following is the marking scheme for SSC CHSL Tier 2:

  • Total Questions- 2 (Essay and Application/Letter)
  • Total Marks- 100
  • Negative Marking- No
  • Min Qualifying Marks- 33.
