SSC CHSL LDC/DEO Tier 1 2016: Jan 09 Exam Analysis

The SSC CHSL 2016 Exam is ongoing. The Exam, owing to its changed exam mode and pattern is now being conducted on multiple dates in computer based test format. Staff Selection Commission is conducting Combined Higher Secondary recruitment to fill 5134 vacancies of Lower Division Clerks, Court Clerks, Postal Assistants, and Data Entry Operators through Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam.

The SSC CHSL 2016 Exam was conducted in two shifts viz. Morning (10 am to 11:15 am) & Evening (4 pm to 5:15 pm). The Result of the exam is expected to be out in the month of February, 2017. The difficulty level of the paper was moderate and candidates with even average level of paper is expected to score decent in the exam and should be able to clear the cut off.

The very first section of the paper dealt with Reasoning. In this section, the questions were comprised of wide range topics such as:

Things to Remember

  • One needs not to put extraordinary effort while dealing with the first 25 questions.  As per according to the students' testimony, this did not hit them hard.
  • A well-versed candidate would easily attempt the questions from 20 to 23 within a general time limit of 15 to 18 minutes.
  • Moreover, aspirants are advised to go through the important following topics; Mirror Images, Missing numbers and Matrix based questions.
  • As these, few topics will help in scoring easily and a quick revision of the same would help to boost up their shaking confidence, in catching posts such that of DEO and other related posts.

General Awareness

This section comprised of questions from general science, history, geography, Indian polity, economics, and current affairs.

Things to Remember

  • The general awareness section was surprisingly easy.  It started with the topics of General science, following Polity, Economics, and Geography. Distinctively, this time the focus was equally on both Static GK as well as current affairs, with 4 questions each.
  • Aspirants are highly advised to go through the static GK quizzes in order to refine their chances at selection for the posts of LDC/Court Clerk/Postal Assistant/DEO.
  • One can easily attempt 15 to 17 correct answers. An aspirant can achieve to the fullest in this section within 10 to 12 minutes.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section comprised of questions from number series, geometry, trigonometry, percentage, profit-loss and speed and distance.

Things to Remember

The Quantitative aptitude section stayed moderate and that too for the well-practiced candidate.

  • In this section, there was a special attention on geometry, with special consideration to coordinate geometry, trigonometry, and mensuration, which would definitely help the applicants to be successful in this section.
  • The DI remained relaxed for the previous sessions. Aspirants are advised to go through the miscellaneous topics and quizzes in order to get the extra practice and thus gaining that extra advantage.
  • Candidates should remember all-important formulae for mensuration and other   scoring topics on their fingertips.
  • A proficient mind would bring laurels to the calculation part and would make a good attempt of 18 to 20 questions within 25 to 30 minutes.

  • This section comprised of questions from easy to moderate level.  And some of the interesting topics like; Cloze test, Antonyms/Synonyms, Idioms and Phrases, Spelling correction, direct and indirect speech, error detection and others.
  • One can get a quick brush up of these topics from the past quizzes and the explanation sections would be completely useful for the candidates to help ace this category. The grammar and the direct indirect questions in this segment would certainly help the aspirants to crack this section. One can shot 18 to 20 questions within a reasonable slot of 15 to 20 minutes.
